Dude this game was tied with 6 min to play
The score was tied - not the product we saw on the field.

They just had better big plays. The fumble for a TD the 45 yard QB scramble, the almost safety, and the punt return for 50 yards were huge.
Failed fake field goals are usually a good sign of a talent differential. If Iowa had been able to run one more play at the end of the first half, this game would have been 38-17.
Yet Iowa fielded a kick-off going out of bounds at their one, drove 97 yards, etc... big play after big play throughout the game.
We never throw over the safety, don't know why, maybe our coach doesn't understand modern football
WR (#89 ontheir team was really good) and Punter. Their kicker had a leg, however. From my angle I couldn't tell, but did that kick go through the goalpost?

I agree. The fact they had less talent than ISU was a surprising amount. Can only imagine what Iowa's staff would do with CPR's roster.
That walkon WR for Iowa was clutch though. How many former walkons start for Iowa? Those natives getting up to beat ISU was huge.
The last 7 don't count. The game was over after Richardson's pick. How about points then? Underrated too?
Yards are a good supporting statistic. 500 yards and 31 points is bad defense. 31 points and 300 yards with a couple defensive scores is a different effort.
So because he was "originally recruited" that way that makes him a walkon, not what actually happened? Ok...
If you understood the safety's role in modern football, you'd know that his job to not get thrown over no matter how far downfield the receivers go.
Do you not understand the concept of a grey shirt? Plus he had a scholarship that fall
Is that why there aren't ever any big passing plays in football these days?
By pure luck, not because the coaches wanted to give him one.
It's like saying that Boone Myers isn't a walk-on because he has a scholarship now. It's disingenuous and shows a lack of understanding of the recruiting process.
