Travis makes it seem like people are expecting a B12 Championship next year. I hate when people exagerate(sp) other people's thoughts in order to argue about them.

Ummm.....I was expecting 38-0 and a title coming to Ames, kicking off the Mayor's reign for the next 30 years. :jimlad:

After watching this years team improvement with this coaching staff, adding the talent next season I think finishing in the top 3 in the conference is not out of the question (only 10 teams now). KU, Texas adn Mizzou will be tough teams.

I'm thinking a more realistic expection is the Men's Basketball breaking the Lady Huskies' winning record.

Don't forget he will pass Bobby Knight for all time D1 wins.

I think realistically we need to finish in the top 5 to get into the dance next year, IMO the Big 12 will be slightly down. I think we can pass KSU, TT, OU, OSU, and Baylor. If anybody has any goals beyond that I think it might be a little bit much.

We won't have to worry about over hyping next years ISU basketball team because Travis, Randy Peterson, Rick Brown, etc. will offer plenty of pessimism for us. I think they're talking so much about Iowa State, so they don't have to talk about iowa's big 10 loss and iowa's 11 and 20 season.

well its a wierd thing... because going into everygame im assuming the team expects to win... i know i dont toon into the tv or go to hilton expecting to lose, that is dumb. even if i know the other team is better i dont expect to lose. so if sticking with the word expectation, then i would say yes.. i expect ISU to win every game they play next year. reality is they probably wont, but they should have more then enough talent to compete. they were in every game minus about 4-5 this year.. every one.. so why would i expect they wouldnt be next year?

Its hard to say as I have no idea how good the rest of the Big 12 is projected to be next year, but I see us finishing somehwere between 1-10.

I thought last year would be a GREAT year, and because of that I will hold of judgment until I see them play against good competition next year...

Fred will be the first coach to 5000 wins LOL............

Look guys at ISU we need to finish in the TOP-HALF of the big 12 every year....

Ultimate Goal: "Iowa State needs to go to the NCAA tournament every year to move this (basketball) program forward"....quoting Larry Eustacy

If FreddieBall can do what LE did at ISU I will die a happy man !!!

You say that like there's something wrong with that?

Actually, I'm only hoping (the difference between "hoping" and "expecting")for a high conference finish, and a strong Final Four run next year. It's the year after that that...

Travis and Tim are so awful that even I don't feel the need to tune in and hear what they are talking about (often times I would listen to Matt and Miller even though I thought Matt was a jerk to Iowa State). If they can't get me, their ratings must be terrible.

But as far as the comment, I'm going to go into the season not expecting much. I'm plenty worried about replacing 3 of our top 4 scorers and frankly it won't surprise me if we don't end up with 4 or 5 of the players that we currently think we will have. I'm also worried about this team jelling and chemistry issues.

We all saw what happened last year when we had Brackins back and Lucca and Gilstrap. And it all went to ****.

The positive is that I have a little more confidence in Fred on handling egos. But he'll be tested too.

I get your point -- sort of like when Jon Miller said ISU "should easily" beat Minnesota in the Insight Bowl. Nevermind the fact that Iowa barely beat Minnesota in the last game of the season, and Iowa crushed ISU. I honestly think he did that just so when Minnesota won the game, he could rag on ISU football. ("How could ISU lose to Minnesota?" and "Just goes to show you that Iowa State will never get to the next level because they can't win the big games" sort of crap.)

However, I'm not allowing anyone else's expections of Iowa State next year interfere with and ruin my expectations. I expect to go watch an ISU team play hard each night. If they do that, the wins will take care of themselves.

When Jon said that I saw right through it as well. It was a passive-aggressive compliment if there is such a thing.

To expect a Big 12 Championship next year is delusional. To hope for it is not, even though it would take a perfect storm.

I expect an NCAA tournament bid, I'll admit that. I'll also admit that there are multiple scenarios as to why that might not happen. Some of which I can handle, mentally, and some I can't. PG is my biggest fear. Injuries are 2nd.
