Okay...according to Eric Bossi, Tyrus McGee has committed (solid verbal) to the good guys, as of today.

CFH seems to think this kid is the missing piece to the 2011 puzzle (JUCO "combo guard" who will be playing the point exclusively this year to prepare for the jump).

Before I ask my question, welcome to the family Tyrus.

Now, my question is...Do we continue to recruit Sledge (he is to be visiting this weekend)? He could be a spring signee, and nobody knows what the roster will look like in a few short months.

I'm actually very, very curious as well. It's intriguing to me that Sledge would visit when we currently are completely filled for the 2011/12 season. Either the staff is recruiting Sledge as a back-up in case attrition occurs (or something happens with McGee), or McGee is only on board in case Sledge doesn't come (in which case, a commitment wouldn't make sense). I'm guessing the former.

Does this mean "yes"? The McGee stuff has just gone down in the last 15 minutes, while the above thread was posted hours ago.

I guess I was thinking more recent info may have changed things.

Perrault reported McGee committed to ISU this afternoon. I haven't seen anywhere definitively if this impacts Sledge or not. I too thought prior to a Mcgee commitment, we had only one scholarship left for 2011.

I know Perrault reported it much earlier, and I was very skeptical, just thinking of the source, until Rivals just put the stamp of approval ("COMMITTED") next to his name.

I've been following this one all day and it's made my head spin. CW...a million applauses to you for going through this all the time. I don't know how you do it.

Anyway, this one has peaked my interest about as much as anything since...well, earlier this year (I won't mention it).

Very interesting situation IMO.

I haven't been able to find anything on rivals about Mcgee committing. I did find this video on Sledge. I love his hops.

If no attrition occurs (LOL), maybe somebody currently here is willing to pay their own way next year.
I thought we were still after the 6' 9" JUCO, also.

I'm assuming this means the end of recruiting Naadir Tharpe as well. Though as i understand it, we weren't making much progress with him, and it now appears likely that he won't sign until Spring.

Interesting. It was there last night, but has since been taken down. Now showing Iowa State as the only school with "High" interest.

I mentioned this somewhere else, but it seems the cart has been placed well before the horse on this one...at least for now.

Nice work Rivals :jimlad:

Now I feel like an ***.

I wonder if our staff plans on pulling a Mizzou on this one. Running off a player that we see as not fitting what we want to do. I read an article where Arizona, between its commits and current roster, will have 16 scholarship players after next season. That means 3 guys are getting the axe. How would you like to be on that roster?

Based on the kids/ position we are recruiting, I was wondering more of a "Jordan Dykstra" to a 2011 recruit. No, I have absolutely no inside information.

There would be no reason for him to visit this weekend. we have filled all 13 of our scholarships. We are losing Jamie, Diante, and Jake Anderson. We are replacing those scholarships with Elgin Cook, Anthony Odunsi, and Tyrus McGee.
