Tell me again why we bowled in the end zone

I've got to say, I know it's a weeknight, but with ticket prices like they were, I would have thought anyone within an hour or two would have gone.

Not that I particularly care, I'm just thinking from my perspective I for sure would have gone if I still lived in Iowa.

Stupid thread.

Not really.

Club seating in end zone was dumb. But we have ISU the last 40 years through several AD's and FB coaches and with that no common thread to make the FB complex look like it wasn't pieced together

They should of tripled the size of our press box and incorporate a club section and seating up there.

Then the new SEZ could be primarily cheaper seats......and looking FILLED during games

I predicted 2 years ago that the SEZ would be half-empty during any part of a game, and it has been.

Even if it was free, its still tough to get there on a weeknight for a lot of people, especially those with kids. Regardless of how far you have to travel, it's at least 3-4 hours out of your weeknight. I was pleasantly surprised with how it looked on TV. Watch other weeknight games and the stands are the same, if not less. Watch another 1-8 team play on any night of the week, let alone a weeknight, and the stands would be half as full as ISU's tonight.

This thread is dumb because this topic has been discussed 20x over. Where was this thread the first few games of the year? Will this thread pop up again when we actually have a good season and the stands are packed?

Look at these pictures of other programs with empty seats. And some of these are big time programs.

Because we've had 50k plus for 37 straight games, some of those had more than the old 56.8k and some sellouts. ISU has over 36k students, most of which end up staying in state. ISU fanbase always shows up, the fanbase is growing the room will be needed.

Yeah - our *terrible* (sarcasm) Athletic Director took possibly the worst seats (sorta) in the stadium and turned them into revenue earners where fans and donors love to spend time while making that wasteland an attraction and a fun place to be while supporting ISU and participating in the game day experience. There ain't enough hot tubs in the Midwest to make that kind of revenue (hear me, 80's Clone fans?)

Do you realize they have access to a bar? You can't be waiting in line for a beer and sitting in your end zone seat at the same time unless you employ time displacement. Even time vortexes and whatnot must be beyond the criticism of Hawgeye Fans.

Oh, it's been a horrible debacle (sarcasm) as everyone is pretty much happy and the people who can afford those SEZ seats are getting exactly (not sarcasm) what they want to pay for.

Going into Thursday night, we were 1-7. The crowd Thursday night was great. The game was pretty darn good, too.

Can't beetch about the things that are actually going for us. The stadium, the fans, the tailgating, the constant improvement in the team despite the really bad record, etc.

And like Nate said - if you don't have seats to sell, you don't have seats to sell.

A good thread for a Hawg troll to start because even with a bad record, I (and others) feel hope for the program as whole, the crowds rock, and the tailgating still rocks. You can't take that away from us.

I think we'll do rib-eyes for the tailgate on Nov 19. Win or lose, it'll probably be a great day... because we will make it so... again.

We are in a nationally televised game vs a great traditional team and only behind by one score with 8 minutes to go and this stupid end zone seating is 1/2 full in the lower part and 1/3 full up top. Absolutely pathetic showing.
I would not waste my time with this trolling attempt but I will. It was Thursday night game #1 - I bet 95% of the people that attended have to work today..... Plus it is 1-8 team, the whole fan-base want success but is too use to the 'process' this season is going through. #2 this area and fan-base attendance and patient for this team and program will return, they just need a flavor of success, this somewhat happened after the San Jose St win, with attendance at the Baylor game.... Your angle and commentary is pretty stupid in general.....

Because we're telling future recruits/donors/coaches "look we're willing to invest in this program. We believe it can be something special. We hope you believe it too."

If ISU won't invest and do everything it can on its end to help ISU, then why should anyone care. The fans have done more than their part.

Look at our counterparts to the East. They were undefeated, with division/conference/national title still all out on the table. They had a chance to honor their seniors and show support for a program that was closing in on a perfect regular season.

And they didn't even sell out their senior day.

All it will take is ISU to be 5-3 at this point instead of 1-7 for weekend games to be full. Hell 4-4 would probably do it.

Many of those who sit in the end zone seats were inside the clubhouse having a drink at the bar. Once the temps dropped below 50 more people were warm inside the bar with a drink watching on the huge screen inside...all the while paying premium prices for endzone seats. It was a great economic decision.

Why people complain about attendance for a 1 win team, I'll never understand. Signed SEZ'er who hasn't missed a game

If you're a senior at ISU you've seen 9 wins ever by your team. Its pretty rare to get a home win. Wheres the motivation to attend?>

The attendance wasn't the issue...actually looked OK on TV for a 1 win team, like others have said. People got out quick after the Park incomplete pass, because, well, that's what ISU does.

I do wish the SEZ was turned into the student section or something...has it ever actually been filled up?

Last year at the TCU game, pretty sure it was the most empty spot in the stadium except for the top corners.

This is a 1-8 team playing on a weeknight. To be honest this team does not deserve the attendance we are getting.

Ya, pretty much it. I think weeknight games are probably pretty poorly attended anyway. Couple that with 1-8, and the fact that OU has used ISU and a whipping post for the past 3 decades. The expansion was not made for that specific game or for this season. The expansion is for the future, where, hopefully ISU will have a better product on the field.
