Tell me again why we bowled in the end zone

The stadium looked great on TV last night. I dont remember any shot during the game where the SEZ looked embarassingly empty at all. The crowd was noticeably loud on TV as well. The commentators even mentioned how they were surprised at how great of a tailgating scene it was before the game. All in all, last night was good publicity for the program. Stayed competitive with OU, program and university atmosphere got talked up, and stadium looked and sounded good on national prime time TV.

Come down off the ledge. No sane person expected a capacity crowd every night. You'll get a lot of butts in the seats for big early games and later too as Campbell builds this thing. Completely silly to judge the decision off one November Thursday night game against a team we haven't beaten in 26 years.

Yep, you have to love the "one data point" people who leap over the cliff based on it. I'd like to hear the OP's opinion on global warming, based off the temperatures this week.

This thread is dumb because this topic has been discussed 20x over. Where was this thread the first few games of the year? Will this thread pop up again when we actually have a good season and the stands are packed?

Look at these pictures of other programs with empty seats. And some of these are big time programs.

I was going to say something about if you want to see bad fan support, check out some other games Saturday, but this does a pretty good job of summing it up.

We have tremendous fan support for a team that's been as bad as it's been over the last 2-3 years. People want to go to games. Last night was just hard for most. Weeknight, decent chance we get trounced, the night before watching baseball-- a packed house just wasn't going to happen.

Great decision to bowl in the end zone. Before we only had about 45,000 actual seats. Otherwise you sit on the grass.....in November it is usually cold.

We had over 50,000 again for a 1 win team..........on a Thursday night. $25 Million from Reimans. Money from Sukups. We would have been fools to not Bowl in the end zone.

We are in a nationally televised game vs a great traditional team and only behind by one score with 8 minutes to go and this stupid end zone seating is 1/2 full in the lower part and 1/3 full up top. Absolutely pathetic showing.

We are 1-8.

Go read the Reddit game thread. Everyone is jealous of our fan base putting 50k in the stands for a 1-8 team on a weeknight

This and as much as I say it, if things go south with the Big 12, **** like this matters. They sit there and think that if there are 50K willing to show up for poor results, what happens if they become good at some point (which looks like it will happen relatively soon).

I live 3 hours away. I'm at work today with 4 hours of sleep. All to watch a football game I know ISU is going to lose!

My point being is there are a lot of fans who do this. What you saw last night is a lot of us saying "you know, it's not worth the hassle tonight, I'm going to sit this one out." And for good reason.

Watch some other bad team's games at other schools.

Look at the fullness of their stands.

Ours is amazing in comparison to theirs.

I'm shocked sometimes how empty things can get.

Not really.

Club seating in end zone was dumb. But we have ISU the last 40 years through several AD's and FB coaches and with that no common thread to make the FB complex look like it wasn't pieced together

They should of tripled the size of our press box and incorporate a club section and seating up there.

Then the new SEZ could be primarily cheaper seats......and looking FILLED during games

I predicted 2 years ago that the SEZ would be half-empty during any part of a game, and it has been.

I don't get how people have certain views on expansion and money and can't reconcile empty seats not meaning anything. Are the seats paid for? If yes...no one that matters cares.

The bowl was added to allow the Gardens more privacy and to cut down the southern wind effect and to brag about stadium size. In fact, the hoks are reworking their bonifide stadium to keep up with the jones

Someone with Penn State flair saying it. Also, the Hawk troll known as yelnats25 is a notorious troll on Reddit who even most Hawk fans hate.

Also, "Is ISU the best 1-7 team? I definitely think yes"

More props from an Oklahoma fan. "I can not imagine how it would be if you guys were a Top 25 team."

And once again, more comments about our fan base and stadium noise

"Most loyal fan base in the Big 12" and stats about our attendance compared to the Pac-12.

So yeah, honestly, we get a lot of respect from other fan bases when we play at home (for a team with our record). I could go through past game threads and find similar comments, many about how they like CMC and the direction ISU FB is heading.

tl;dr - People outside of ISU see positive things happening under CMC and give a lot of props to our fans and attendance numbers.

*Team wins 6 times twice in 3 years* BOWL IT IN, WE NEED A BOWL

*Team is 1-8 and has over 50,000 people at the game on Thursday night* WHAT A DISGRACE! WE SHOULD NEVER BOWL IN A STADIUM! WE SUCK AS FANS!

Makes sense.

Do these troll threads just stay open to demonstrate how obsessed Hawk fans are with Iowa State?
