Well at least the game is at 11am, the crowd will be quiet.
Another week with running back problems.
Brock hurt, Norton hurt, Silas not an everydown back, Sanders I'm not even sure whats going on there.
Not a single receiver can we "throw it up to" like we had with Lazard, Butler, Kolar.
Expect pain.
RBU is in serious jeopardy. Brock is our best back and I'm not sure he's an NFL guy at the end of the day. Silas is a depth piece that is way too small to play in the Big 12, let alone an NFL guy. Sanders, I agree, seems to be the most troubling of the bunch. Body wise he doesn't really have the look of a scholarship RB.

Seems to me that our offense probably won't produce more than a couple scores at best. The experts have us scoring 21 and 27? If that is true we might have a chance IMO. If we can hold them to 10 points or less we might have a shot in the real world. If not.... it will take a miracle offensive turnaround in my view....

First time in the MC era since after the first year it's a rake your lawn Saturday.

Good news is it's an 11:00 game so by 12:00 we will know if we are in it or not. All afternoon, if weather is decent, to go do something else if we are down a couple of scores.

And, think it's a weekend or two too early for raking. ;)

Body wise? Reggie Bush wasn't exactly built like a proto running back.

It's hard to run when there is nary a hole to be had at the line of scrimmage. Our inability to stretch the field and show more creativity and success from similar sets makes us very easy to defend. If you were an opponent, why would you respect our long ball capabilities? Why would you commit more than one defender to ANYONE not named Hutchinson? When teams can dominate your line with 3-4 guys, plus a QB in the backfield, that means they have 7 guys left to cover our remaining 5 guys. And when many of those 7 guys can cheat and, in same cases, easily peel off to help as our routes are often at the same level of the field, it makes it easy.

We can't run because we don't win the line of scrimmage and that, in turn, compounds our issues throwing the ball. Add in the Mickey Mouse design and it's hard to move the ball. If you can't block you BETTER have guys that can consistently win 1 on 1+ battles. Unfortunately we only have one guy who has shown he can do that.

Ewers is overrated. I think there's a potential to win this game if Heacock gets in his head and if we make adjustments to fix our offensive woes.

Probably what's most likely is that we'll do a decent job against Ewers but offense will struggle.

There is almost 0% chance that we rush for 100+ on Saturday. I would handicap it at 55.5
Texas ranks 35th in total D. ISU ranks 11th. If either Norton or Brock play and are fairly healthy, we'll rush for much more than 55 yds.

I'm not getting all the "Texas is unbeatable" stuff in this thread.

I don't think this staff has a great record in the state of Texas (including B12 championship and bowl games).

I think it’s less of Texas being “unbeatable” and questioning if we’re “unwinnable”.

Until we can put up more than 10 pts against anybody with a pulse, people will doubt us, rightfully so. I think when you add in the fact that we’ve yet to play a team that is good at both phases of offense, there are questions about how our lack of speed on defense will factor in.

No, Texas isn’t unbeatable, but we’ve also not seen any improvement in offense since the Iowa game against defenses many times worse than Texas will bring.

I guess you missed the last 3 ISU/Texas games.
It's actually not as bad as I thought, but ISU is 5-9 in games played in the state of Texas (under Campbell).

edit: I think we're 10-3 against Texas teams at home under Campbell.

This. With the offense as it is now, ISU is "unwinnable" in conference, with perhaps the exception of OU. The other 8 teams appear to be actually looking to score points.

Small sample size, but yikes...

I wish I had sone unique spin to put on this. I think we score early with a couple wrinkles and they do as well, maybe go into the half down 17 to 7 or so.

Defense will give it all they got but I just can't see how we are going to move the ball at all. Texas just wears the defense down, offense turns it over a couple times, maybe a blocked punt. And we lose like 37 to 10. In reality the D gives up like 17 points and plays well, but gets put in some horrible situations again and can't keep them out of the end zone forever, Horns are just loaded again.

Last few years we had the better team, not the case anymore.

I feel like this game mirrors either the 2018 visit to Austin (they kicked our ass) the 2020 visit (we find a way to win late). Doesn't seem like there is much in between for this one.

The good news: it’s been over 1,000 days since the horns last defeated us…that’s pretty cool to consider. Bad news: the streak won’t go much further.

I’ll be shocked if our offense manages more than 10 points. Our D will hold up and slow the bleeding, but they’ll find themselves on the field way too much and Ewers will cut to pieces our not so great secondary.

Also, I would expect at least two turnovers from our offense or a blocked punt against our really special special teams, which will give Texas even more points on the board with a couple of short fields. Our three-year winning streak stops here.

Clones- 7
lousy team from Austin- 31

Take Texas to cover, buy those new shoes you’ve been eyeballing.
