Greetings Brethern and Sistern of the Orphaned 8!

I am an OSU fan and I wanted to drop by and say hello before the Gooners and the Whorns depart. Who knows what the Big 12 will look like next year if it continues to exist. Where ever we finally land I hope it's with you guys.

I would like to see us add BYU, UCF, USF, and Cincinnati. Houston would be acceptable if we jettison that awful school in Wacko. I hope we announce those decisions soon and they can join the year after UT and UT-Norman leave.

I have always rooted for the teams playing the Goons and the Whorns. Looks like this year we'll have to root twice as much with plenty of whorns down!

Good luck on the upcoming season!

Always felt we were a mini rivalry, although you generally got the best of us in football. Also feel that we are the two biggest brands that would be left in the Big XII right now if it stays in existence. Here's to a OSU/ISU big XII championship game and push those traitors aside for the last one.

EDIT: Losing texas (outside of financially) doesn't hurt my feelings one bit at all. I'm sick of their crap.

Agreed, our little rivalry got kicked up a notch in 2011! I had great hopes last year that we would meet in the CCG. You kept up your end and we had too many injuries and guys getting kicked off the team in key positions. Here's to OSU and ISU playing twice this year!

I honestly believe you guys will be in the PAC when it is all said and done. Not sure your thoughts on that, and whether you think it's good or bad, but at least a semi decent landing spot. ACC could be a possibility to go with the couch burners.

I appreciate your new presence on this board if for nothing else than giving us the word "Whorns".

“There’s no more important topic that’s in front of us right now,” Hocutt said during the Red Raider Club kickoff event. “(It) will be in front of us once the season kicks off and for the next couple of years, I would imagine.”

I think this statement could be interpreted two ways. 1) They are going after B12 additions now. 2) They are planning for the future, 1-3 years from now and preparing for every eventuality.

My feeling is the "second". ISU and the R8/B12 are just preparing, not ready to add. Hocutt's statement of how this will be in front of us for the next couple of years, cements it for me. We are likely to 'hold' for 1-2 years.

Of course what do I know.

To me, setting the time frame like that puts the ball in UT/OU's court. If they want out early, they'll need to make the move.

Big 12 should allow partial qualifiers in sports. Not like academics mean anything anymore.

I agree with that, however I'm not sure there are that many partial qualifiers any more. You rarely hear about them any more.

Two new words, whorns and gooners/goons. Both objects just as distasteful as before.

Between the PAC and the ACC, I would rather play teams in the ACC, better game times, better/more fans. Though playing USC, Oregon, Washington and the Zona schools is intriguing. The ACC's horrible GOR doesn't expire until 35/36, but I've read multiple places that it can be renegotiated by adding new schools.

I would love to join the B1G for the wrestling aspect, but we aren't AAU and that would be several years away and lots of dollars in beefing up our research. I don't see the B1G happening for us, as there are lots of current AAU schools they could add. The B1G could take 6 AAU schools from the PAC and 4 AAU schools from the ACC. Then were would we be? Second tier with the other leftovers.

I think our future gets clearer once we know for sure when the Goons and Whorns are departing, and second what the new B1G TV contract looks like.

Agreed! I've driven across Iowa many a time. You can smell the money if you don't have your windows rolled up! At least that's what my Iowegian wife says.

Good luck all season except for when you play us ;).Good to hear some other fan bases viewpoints on the realignment. I'll miss OU because the were part of the original B8. Glad some other conference will have to put up with Texa$ prima donna drama.

Perfect way to end this season would be seeing you guys in Jerry World. I'll root for the other 3 Big 8 (OU is dead to me)schools every week they aren't playing us.
