They need to fix the parking. Parking at the church works ok at best. It's main problem was parking and the students destroying the elevators and everything you saw on the way up.

Whatever new restaurant goes in there needs its own elevator and entry way that isn't shared with the top floor apartments. That's always been with dumb design, pretty sure most restaurant goers do not want to share an elevator with a bunch of drunked 19 year olds.

Only went once, and felt the stuck-up sorority waitress was of the opinion she was doing us a favor by serving our table. And the food was mediocre. Unrealized potential for sure.

I have only been there a few times since the previous owners sold it and they closed to take down anything interesting on the walls. We always played trivia there before then and enjoyed the place being part of our weekly ritual. The food wasn't great, but it was good enough. Once the sold to the most recent owners, the trivia was suspended for months, then brought back in a lame DJ'd version that we tried once and never again.

Hopefully something good can move in there that appeals to more than just one type of crowd. I don't really care what it specifically is, though. Definitely a gold mine for someone with a vision.

I completely disagree that it's a gold mine. Restaurants make their killing on Friday/Saturday. Legacy Tower isn't where you want to be on Friday/Saturday, especially when there is only elevator service 1/2 the time. The view is great, the rest is awful unless they can get a dedicated elevator (which will probably never happen).

Yep if the next restuarant can get a their own elevator and better parking they will be golden, otherwise they better be something really popular to draw people in.

Put the right business in there and it will be someplace people will want to be on a Friday or Saturday night. No one ever said Legacy Tower was a great building. Anyone will have to overlook the fact that students live there and all that comes with that territory. The potential is absolutely there.

Students = cheap. Rent in Legacy = expensive. The clientele you need to make a business in that venue successful are not just going overlook puke in the elevators. Legends had been struggling for awhile but needed to keep trying to produce revenue to minimize the loss because they were locked into the lease.

^^This. Restaurants like this are going to make their money from business lunches and family dinners. Nobody wants to do either of those in Campustown. Not even places like Hooters or the like will do well in Campustown, it's impossible to get in and out for their businessman clientele.

College kids are great for a lot of things - pizza and burger joints, etc. Cheap places where they don't have to tip much or at all. Mid-range restaurants don't want college kids as their primary base.

I would argue that the lack of adult/family places is the biggest drawback to campustown. The last thing that campustown needs is another dive or cheap eats place geared for students. They need to do more to draw in the Alumni/Locals to bring in significantly more revenue. I've been to plenty of other college towns where this is the way things are. The restaurants are a mixed crowd until 9ish, at which point it transitions to your typical college bar scene.

Campustown really isn't meant for people over 30, unless they enjoy drinking and ****** food. Not trying to be a **** about it. Yall have old main and like **** on duff.

Legends wasn't any worse than Applebees. We went there a lot on away game Saturdays to eat/watch the game since it was across the street. It wasn't great but we could drink whatever and then head to Welch so it was a good option.

That isn't saying a whole lot. Applebees is possibly the most disgusting chain food out there.

Exactly. In a lot of the towns where the campus area is a hotspot, there aren't a lot of other options in town, campustown is a hub. That's just not the case in Ames. Ames has west Lincoln Way, South Duff, Main St, Somerset and up by the mall, etc.

Time for Es Tas to make another move. Whatever goes there needs to cater to the demographics needs, college students. A decent bar could do well up there in the long run.
