5 bowls since 2000 is tied for 4th most in the conference. Granted, the bowls have been 2nd-tier bowls, but at least we have reached a level of consistency that 8 other teams in the conference don't have.
But, other than that Independence Bowl, which gets the seventh best Big 12 team, these bowls didn't exist. When 60 plus teams get a bowl bid that isn't that big of a deal.
I like Dan (yes ISU I do like Dan), I just wish that he could communicate in another way than coach speak when he is on the radio/tv. I give him credit for his work, but he has had more help than any coach before him, and he HASN'T WON enough.
The simple fact of the matter is that he won 9 games in 2000, and probably should have left at that point. The opportunities had to abound, right??? Well I certainly don't remember any schools making overtures toward him, if there were schools, please refresh my memory. He himself linked himself to TCU, and they said no publicly.
So what is the deal there. I have always wondered as to why, with all of the things working against him, why he would stay here. I mean he takes EVERY OPPORTUNITY HE CAN TO TALK ABOUT HOW BAD THE JOB WAS/IS when he got here.
This is where we all seem to disagree, I say he gets outcoached on a regular basis. The players make silly mistakes, and they are SLOPPY fundementally, another indictment of the coaching staff. I guess I don't see what is going to change if all of a sudden, we have all the money in the world to do what we want with.
I mean all of a sudden, are we going to be fundementally sound, will Dan quit losing games that he should win, due to brutal coaching decisions (take the air out of the ball in the second half, cover two, with HUGE seams, and no pass rush)???
