I think it was a fumble, but let’s not claim it was clear as day. If so, the official’s review should have lasted 10 seconds.
No review takes 10 seconds. It was clear. It was close to being a tossup but ball was coming out right before knee touched.

1-8 in last 9 games decided by a single score or less. Do better Matt.

There is just no way you can stop a game from the booth and eject freyler in the baylor game on a routine tackle like that and not even take a look at the shot ton dekkers today. I just cannot understand it.
I can fully understand it. It’s actually quite simple. The Big 12 doing what Big12 has done since its inception Do you realize which state both the opponents come from?

I thought it was probably a fumble but it was not clear what was called on the field. The referee announced on PA that the ruling was runner was down by contact is under further review. And if they toss Freyler for less than that hit, Cook should be out too.

What is the ruling if they had called him down on the field, review says fumble caused by an illegal targeting hit? Is it Texas ball, 15 yards back for the targeting?
The referee did seem to completely blow language before the review.

Ball would not turnover on a personal foul call. It would have been 1st and 10 Iowa State 15 yards closer.

Also known as, the Big 12 won't look at it and doesn't care about piss poor officiating. Nothing to see here.

Are you serious? If the fumble is caused by an illegal hit the offensive team retains position. Not controversial whatsoever.

Just watched the replay. The call on the field was down by contact. The announcement after review was that the call on the field stands (NOT confirmed), but then they said Texas ball. That's bad.

Complete incompetence on all levels with the officials if that's their explanation. I'm sure Pollard will get an apology letter.

As Campbell said after the game, they'll never get an explanation.

Watched the replay again. There was one official who honestly wouldn't have had a great view who came in emphatically calling the fumble and announcing it almost immediately. It's hard to hear because the crowd was loud. Seemed strange to watch him run in so energetically to make that call without any consultation with the other refs.

Something smells about that

Why is the one ref that is far away from the play the one calling the fumble?

Just imagine the play that got Freyler kicked out of the Baylor game and you have a pretty good idea.
