Looking back it would have been nice not to have jumped the gun adding TCU. WVU and Louisville should have been the teams added at that time. TCU lucked out by being able to easily get out of the Big East contract, and Football has had a good run lately.

Split would be really nice East/West at 16 if they weren't in it. Nothing we can do now about it now, though.

TCU was definitely a knee jerk reaction. The benefited from being in the right place at the right time. I am glad that they are here though. They seem like they are going to be a good addition.

They have a better football team than FSU or Clemson.

But they don't bring the market that a FSU or Clemson does either. TCU was added because of their ability to join immediately, not for any other reason. I hope that doesn't come across wrong, I think TCU is a good school and eventually will be a good B12 member, but if the B12 hadn't been scrambling for it's life at that point, TCU would not have been the addition.

Since I'm a Cyclone fan it's my job to find the bad from the good.

Is OVER-expansion a possibly? I think of the 16 team WAC and the incredible flop that was. We go to 16 and it gets unruly ....Texas then forms a coalition and breaks away like the Mountain West did from the WAC....ISU sits at the table with the Forgotten 4 again and we form some type of new WAC-ish conference

I'm cool at 12. We know that can work. 14/16 members has a questionable track record.

no Louisville either way

How does the whole BCS Bowl bid deal work? If we go to 16 and have three or four of the top teams... could cause some problems if only one or two of them can make the BCS.

Per the usual, Texas being the problem.

Texas AD DeLoss Dodds tells @CBSSports he's not for Big 12 expansion but admits courting Notre Dame http://cbsprt.co/KkOkAo

This is why, despite all of this, we'd take a Big 10 invite in a heartbeat.

Isn't this a case of what is he suppose to say? If he says yes, he and the B12 get yelled at for trying to ruin the ACC. If he says he isn't for it we say, oh Texas is just trying to throw their weight around. I will believe Texas is not up for expansion if no expansion happens.

Texas is being Texas...............again.

Actually, I am with Dodds. Why expand? 10 is good. Maybe a few million more bucks a year, but the new contract is fine by itself.

What does Clemson really bring? Yeah they are fine, but who cares really. Florida State is fine, but ND is the real prize here. I really think adding FSU and Clemson is more trouble than it is worth. We have a great thing going with 10 right now.

I agree with him, don't expand unless you get ND. Otherwise this turns into a Texas division and everyone else, and that won't work worth a damn, we already did that.

He has to say this at this point. Every one denies, denies, denies, but then it just happens. How many times did Larry Scott, Mike Slive and Jim Delaney deny before the truth came out? There is a lot going on behind the scenes, the Big 12 does not need to run expansion through the media.

IMO expansion actually means less power for Texas. The forgotten 4 would potentially have more voting allies with expansion.

Some people read too much into things. He can't say hes for adding teams that aren't there. ND is the only independent, that's why he can mention them. Once Florida St. and Clemson and/or anyone else is officially leaving the conference, that is when they can start being mentioned as we would like to add them to the Big12.

Exactly, just like a football coach not being able to talk about a recruit, basically.

I'd take Louisville over Pitt or Miami.

Agreed. I think these three are pretty equal. Not much difference on the field (there is a difference academically but none of this has been about academics). Their histories are a bit different but the product now is similar. And with the turnover at Pitt and trouble at Miami, that may not be the case for long. And I don't think either has a huge fanbase or a national following.

If all things are equal, I would much rather have a team that WANTS to be here than one that settles on being here.

What are the chances that FSU and Clemson are using the Big 12 to leverage a better ACC contract with ESPN, and that the Big 12 is using FSU and Clemson to leverage ND to join with L'vol? Seems to me like that would be the apt twist to this expansion saga and everyone ends up in a decent conference, more money, and a normal-ish looking conference footprint.
