I'm not a lawyer, so this may be a dumb question, but how sound of a legal foundation would a lawyer have trying to bring suit against the SEC - on a realistic basis.

Yes, that is a dumb question. If the SEC was on solid legal footing they wouldn't need waivers now would they?

That sure makes it sound like there may be more than one Big XII school that isn't willing to sign a waiver.

According to Billy Liucci at TexAgs (so take it for what it is worth), it sounds like Baylor is the lone holdout...

Big 12 teleconference at noon. If Beebe were the genius he's led us all to believe he is, he'd put that bad boy up on itunes and cash in!

billyliucci Billy Liucci
Contrary to reports, Baylor has not yet fallen in line with original B12 agreement. Discussions likely to go on throughout the day.

billyliucci Billy Liucci
I've been told a Big 12 conference call is coming...no surprise. I'm sure BU will be told to stand down. Not sure they'll listen.

billyliucci Billy Liucci
Now the true colors of Beebe and Baylor are coming out. Can't wait until this letter goes mainstream.

There are a lot of conference bylaws about courting schools in other conferences and what happens if they're violated that the member schools sign. I'm guessing if Baylor wanted to, they'd be able to sue for ~$40 million (isn't that the fee to leave the Big XII?) for improper communication.

A Beebe book should be interesting. I'm ready to order it and some crayons to color in the pictures.

I would picture it as Diary of a Wimpy Kid if that wasn't already a successful idea. Then again, not sure Beebe has done anything original (outside blowing up a BCS conference)

But seriously, that book could be an interesting read with all of this and remember he was also in the investigation of the SMU scandal.

MWC should just try and make Baylor an offer they can't refuse right now. Baylor could fill the void that TCU is leaving in that conference.

Baylor (w/hat in hand):

"I believe in the Big 12. The Big 12 has made my fortune. And I raised my University in the Big 12 fashion. I gave her freedom, but I taught her never to dishonor her conference. We found a leader in Texas; not a Baptist. We moved from Kansas City to Irving with him; we even commited to give them their own network. I didn't protest. Two months ago, he took her for a drive, with ESPN. They made her play on the LHN. And then they tried to take advantage of her. She resisted. She kept her honor. So they beat her, like an animal. When I went to Provost Elizabeth Davis office, her spirit was a'broken. Her jaw was clenched, as if held together by wire. She couldn't even weep because of the pain. But I wept. Why did I weep? Baylor was the light of my life - a beautiful budding athletic program. Now she will never be beautiful again. I participated in the teleconference, like a good conference member. These two boys were brought to trial. Dan Beebe sentenced them to no high school broadcasts - NO HIGH SCHOOL BROADCASTS! They began preparations to air high school highlights that very week! I stood in the office like a fool. And those two bastards, they smiled at me. Then I said to my university, for justice, we must go to Ken Starr."

Who says we're not. Each did not give up the right to sue the league did. We can file suit anytime. Why not wait to see what happens with Baylor.

I'm not blaming him. That's a hypothetical situation right now.

If Baylor is the lone holdout, I am extremely proud of Baylor for standing up for themselves. Obviously, their sister schools in Texas don't seem to be in a hurry to look out for them.

Yea, if he could clear all the legal issues to publish a tell-all, he could write the definitive book on Texas college football politics after he retires.

There is a trail of paperwork all over the country. It could take years and be worth millions to the law firms. It might be their pleasure to rope an Aggie steer also.

Sounds crazy and probably wouldn't work but:

Go independent 1 year to break all lawsuit issues and get paid to play some SEC teams as an independent, out-of-conference game. Invite to SEC for 2013.

You'd probably have to steer clear of playing an SEC teams that weren't already scheduled if you wanted to avoid the lawsuit, don't you think?

Would probably help with the lawsuits, but wouldn't get them out of the $25 mil in TV revenue that the B12 would be withholding.

Let's say litigation issues forces the SEC to withdraw its invite to TX A&M forcing Aggieland to remain with the Big12, then ESPN renegotiates a a dual track TV third tier networks for the conference. UT, TX A&M, and OU form a re-branded LHN called the Panhandle Network; and the remaining schools form the new Big12 Network. The $300M originally designated for the LHN split evenly between the two networks. UT, aTm and OU would get $50M each, and the remaining seven would get about $21.4M each for their third tier broadcast rights. This arrangement, I think would keep everyone happy and would keep the conference stable as the three "big boys" of the Big12 come to a more-or-less equitable revenue and power sharing arrangement, and everyone else gets an extra $21M to boot. Everyone's mostly happy.

Baylor threat of a lawsuit is posturing. SEC has grounds for a legit lawsuit if Baylor holds it up
