The NCAA told the MWC and C-USA that it would award the merged league only one AQ berth to postseason events. So instead of two 8-10 team leagues and two AQs, there would be one 16+ team league with only one AQ.

It seems mind boggling to me that these two conference thought that they could merge into one conference, and still be treated like two separate conferences as far as AQ bids to post season events. If the NCAA had granted that, it would have triggered an immediate superconference scramble among the Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC, with each one of them clamoring for two AQ bids after they hit 16+ teams.

I'll be extremely interested to see what happens with this. Once the MWC/C-USA makes their picks for expansion, a school like Idaho will almost assuredly be left out. There will be nowhere for Idaho to turn because the WAC or MWC/C-USA are their only options. The only choice would be to be demoted to FCS and join the Big Sky. But no school I know of has even been unwillingly demoted to Div I-AA when they meet FBS requirements. Does the NCAA intervene?

I think it'd be awesome if the NCAA forced the PAC 12 to take Idaho. They were a PAC member for nearly 40 years. Of course it would never happen, but it seems crazy to me to have a FBS member unwillingly demoted because the only conferences in their geographical region will not accept them.

I'll never understand why people actually think Cinci and Louisville will ever be added. The only one with a chance is Louisville and that is if the B12 is stuck with adding an odd number of worthy programs and need a filler.

Louisville will be in the B12. Pretty sure of that but certainly nothing is written in stone until it is announced.

Cincy has a very, very, VERY small chance. 1% I would say.

Louisville's chances are getting smaller each day. If the Big 12 wanted them that bad, they would be in the Big 12 already.

Exactly. Louisville is there if we end up sloppy drunk at bar close with no other options.

Until that hotter chick leaves with someone else, no reason to settle for Louisville.

Essentially, Louisville isn't going to be the odd-numbered team, they're going to be the even-numbered team (assuming a second, fourth, or sixth team is actually needed).

They have no chance to be the odd numbered team, and have a slight chance to be #14 or #16. I really doubt they would be #12 in any circumstance.

More like Louisville is the chick at the bar who you consider taking home with the hot chick that you already have locked up, just so you have the chance at a 3-way, provided you and the hot chick can't find one or more other hot chicks to take her place.

Yeah, something like that....

This is starting to sound very promising.

I still believe Louisville is in regardless. We shall see.

All of the supposed insiders (for what it's worth) at one point agreed with you. Now they all seem to disagree with you. Don't ask me why, they all just in unison dropped Louisville from consideration.

Here is the e-rumor from today:

ESCALATOR MONEY SCHOOLS: Clemson, Florida State, Maryland, and Notre Dame
NEUTRAL MONEY SCHOOLS: BYU
NEGATIVE MONEY SCHOOLS: Louisville

FSU Rivals site for those interested. The first poster is SEC I believe and gets the Big XII talk started. It is funny how a couple of the die hard ACC posters go from NO WAY to "go with conditions" in the course of one week and 6 pages. :spinny:

This is primarily because all of the "insiders" driving the conversation of B12 expansion originate primarily from WVU posters and WVU has a vendetta against Louisville.

I'll continue to believe Louisville is in regardless until the day the next teams are announced and Louisville isn't part of that group.

Even "mounty 71" who is a supposed WVU insider that dislikes Louisville recently said they were a slam dunk to the B12. "Colton" on the Louisville board continues to say he has not heard of a scenario that does not involve Louisville. Just delaying to figure out who else coming along.
