Best guess: OU likely to authorize Pres Boren to handle realignment issues. UT may follow suit by authorizing Pres. Bill Powers to do same.

Not exactly sure.
You will see it on ALL BOR agendas. Well at least those that don't dole the job out the AD's and Prez's. Open meeting laws require things that will/may get discussed to be on the agenda. If you stick it on there just in case it covers your bases. If this goes on for a year, God forbid it does, it will be on every BOR agenda until then.

I need a new hobby.

On a dark Utah highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of potential riches, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw the Big 12’s light
My Mormon was heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There Bebee stood in the doorway;
I heard the Big 12's bell
And I was thinking to myself,
’this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Bebee lit up a candle and he showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Big 12 conference
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Big 12 conference
Any time of year, you can find it here

Bebee’s mind is tiffany-twisted, he got the mercedes bends
He got a lot of pretty universities, that he calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, except for Baylor, of course.
Some dance to remember, some dance to divorce

So I called up the commissioner,
’tell me where do I sign?’
He said, ’we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Big 12 conference
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the Big 12 conference
What a nice surprise, until you hear the lies

Big Fox TV contract,
The pink champagne on ice
And Aggie said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
And in the Long Horn’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab at Bevo with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I tried to reclaim my independence
You know, the place I was before
’relax,’ said the commissioner,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

Awesome! Nothing about mason jars?! Or cyber chasing airplanes!? Or mama!?

I like the sound of making decisions on conference "membership" better than I would like the sound of making decisions on conference "affiliation".

I don't, It could mean that texas is making a true move towards being independent.

OU and UT will both authorize their presidents to make all the moves necessary in this soap opera..........which may turn out to be staying in the Big 12. They BoR for both schools know that if they have to act they may have to act quicker than the BoR would be able to (because of having to post notice of meeting, an agenda, etc.)

The thing that makes me nervous is that nobody would have to meet and give presidents any authority if they were staying in the Big 12.

Given the situation I think every school wants their president to be able to act quickly and decisively. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a good sign. But it isn't automatically a bad one.

This is as close as this game of chicken between UT and OU is going to get. I don't know how I would feel about this move if I'm Boren or Powers - you now become the people to blame if the conference falls apart. I guess on the flip-side they will look like the heroes that saved the Big 12 if they stay in the conference - maybe that's the real outcome in all this, more spin to make OU and UT the good guys again:realmad:

If OU stays, it better not be with OU and Texas continuing to run the conference. It obviously does not work and **** needs to get cleaned up. Equal revenue sharing, etc. Model the new and improved Big 12 like b1g, SEC, Pac, etc.

Maybe equal between Texas and OU.

I don't mind unequal revenue sharing but the disparity is so big between schools like TX and ourselves. Can't we have more of a hybrid form? That way teams are still rewarded on performance and makes the conference more stable.
