Seems like they are going to start treating the media with a gauntlet rather than kiddie gloves.
The Pitt and Syracuse move really shows standing by your statements from the ACC commish. Didn't the BE and ACC, also beebe to a point, talk about conferences should meet and not raid each other. Seems like the ACC attacked the BE faster than anyone. I know they were concerned about the SEC, but as soon as the big XII even mentioned Pitt, they attacked.
I still think the Pitt and Syracuse move was similar to Colorado last year. Secure your spot before someone else takes it (Baylor attempt). Sure the ACC wanted them and was likely courting them but I'm not sure it would have happened (at least as quickly) if OU/Texas were not shopping around.
Now that pollard has the keys to this mess, no one will know **** until it is done. Take all reports otherwise with enormous grains of salt. They should have put it in his hands a long time ago and maybe we wouldnt have had to see dodds, boren, and the entire state of missouri try to **** it up.
That move was in the works for quite a while. Pitt led the charge to not sign that huge tv contract last year because they knew it would make it harder to leave.
Of course, they did. They were fooling with Fox. If the Big 12 busted up, there wqould be one fewer conference to deal with TV rights. The same is for the BE. Now, will their parting shot backfire in the end? Just wish NBC would do better than ND. I do not see NBC as the Catholic Network after watching some of their subsidiaries.....
With B1G going to 9 conference games, I wonder if ND future scheduling will have to spread out to other conferences to fill their dance tickets.
Concerning Mizzou, I want them to stay. If they leave, Iowa State is on an island in the Big 12 and we would be losing a rival that we have been playing forever.
Reports say that Alden and Pinkel want to go to the SEC and are fed up with the Big 12. If they leave, I hope it is to the SEC and not the B1G.

They have a great thing going for them in the Big 12 and are finally getting to the point where they compete with the big boys. Pinkel has done a great job but a move to the SEC would be football suicide for Mizzou. Pinkel would likely be out of a job in 5 years and they would be back to pre Pinkel era Mizzou. Be careful what you wish for.

You probably need to add Missourah's governor to that list as well. Hasn't he been mouthing off in the past about MU needing to change conferences?
Honestly, with the head football coach, AD, fans, governor favoring conference change, I'm wondering if the Big 12 can really be stable as long as MU is a member...

It would be so stupid for MO to go SEC and get pounded by Alabama each year. If Okie pounded them, wait for more injuries if they play Bama. I would still think the Texas recruiting would be down for MO if they had only aTm in the SEC. They would have to go more to recruit Georgia and Louisiana and east Texas at best. No, it would be a stupid move. Hey, stupid moves have been done in the past by far smarter people.
JUST FOR DISCUSSION
Missouri could be in a 12-16 team Big 12 league with a "softer north" with a good chance to go BCS. They could beat BYU, Louisville, Cincinnati, Rutgers, WVU and Clones and KU, KSU. In a 16 team league, they would only only play south teams twice in a season. They could be looking at BCS with 10-3 or 11-2 records if they keep their act together. What are they thinking? They must be stuck on stupid. If they went SEC, think 6-6, 5-7.
Pinkel is an ego-maniac. He'd like to come off as if he wants to join the SEC but he's not an idiot. Privately he probably wants the Big 12 to survive and add some winnable but respectable games like Louisville.
Campaigning for a move as the SEC's northern most outpost would be suicide for him. Not that the Big 12 is a cakewalk, but the SEC has meat grinder years like we're having now with more regularity.

Hypothetically, let's say Missouri does decide to make their football program an obsolete stepping stone in the SEC.
With the Big East crumbling there are still really good options to get to 12, 14 may be a bit of a reach without Mizzou. We could do 14 or 16 but then you really are getting into a territory of adding teams that just divide the pie.
BYU, WVU would be on the table if Missou leaves, Cincy, Louisville
4 new markets, not close but not insane geography as long as BYU is grouped with Western most schools. 12 team league.
If you go 14 or 16 your options are SFU, UCF, TCU, Houston, AFA.
