He's not a mouthpiece for the OU AD. He's stated on here that he doesn't have inside connections, just runs a popular OU board.

If you pay attention to his posting it's either his opinion or just passing on links/recruit info.

Which is why he is usually wrong.

What strikes me in this is that with all the reading I'm doing of WV fan blogs the Mountaineers are quickly becoming my second favorite team in the Big 12. Their fans seem like class acts. Gotta wait to see how they act during football season, but good first impression.

WVU has been great so far. Their Scout board is a good one that fans from most Big 12 schools seem to frequent. TCU is virtually nonexistent. I know they have had a great run in the past ten years of football, but for the sake of the conference, I hope they have a fan base that belongs.

+1. I've spent some time at one of the WVU bars here in DC, even well before realignment, and they've always been a fun crowd. They know their football well, and care just as much about basketball, which I find important. There were a bunch of them in the bar I watched last year's ISU/Iowa football game at, and they were loving it. All of the VT fans, in contrast, were complaining about multiple overtimes causing them to miss the start of their game against ECU.

I'm not sure if Coast to Coast Hardware still exists, but they'd be a logical sponsor for the Big XII in that scenario.
Coast to Coast HW was bought out by True Value, I believe, years ago:
From Wikipedia:

True Value Company traces its roots to three hardware cooperatives and a hardware wholesaler: American Hardware & Supply (ServiStar), Coast to Coast Corporation, Cotter & Company (True Value), and the Midwest-based Hibbard Spencer Bartlett & Company.[4]

A worker enters a True Value lumberyard in New Dorp, Staten Island. The lumberyard shut down in 2009

Cotter & Company was established in 1948 by John Cotter with 12 original member stores. The cooperative grew in membership and in 1962 Cotter & Company purchased the assets of Hibbard Spencer Bartlett & Company for $2.5 million, acquiring the True Value trademark for $2500 as part of the acquisition.[4] ServiStar Hardware (formerly American Hardware Supply) had previously purchased Coast to Coast Hardware[4] and had renamed itself to Servistar & Coast to Coast Hardware. Their hardware stores were operating under either ServiStar or Coast to Coast retail identities. In 1997 they merged with Cotter & Company to form TruServ Corporation.

I wouldn't be so sure. We may not be relegated to Conference USA like we were worried about last time, but we could certainly be worse off than the current Big 12 + 2 (whoever they are).

If everybody makes the run to 16, and those conferences start falling apart, we aren't going to be a top pick to fill out a new conference. We look to be hitting the jackpot now because we just happen to be in the right place. What if when it all hits the fan, other conferences start up and schools like UT and OU head off to join them? Nobody is going to bring us along for the ride, or fight to grab us in expansion.

We would probably find a home in some pseudo-power conference with the other leftovers schools (much like what the Big East looks like today), which while not the worst thing possible certainly isn't great.

We will never be a school that has much control over our fate, so anything that significantly increases our chances for future instability in our conference is bad for us. Doesn't matter if it is being the first to try the 16 team experiment, or screwing around with some ND partial membership. We are in a very stable place with the B12 right now, and things are very much looking up for ISU right now. That is not a coincidence.

At the same time, being in a conference that gets paid among the best also promotes stability. Schools just cash the checks and be happy. What we need to do is make sure we wisely invest that money and elevate our programs so that if in 10 years when the grant of rights is almost up and schools can consider other options, our profile has risen to the point where we're at least somewhat valuable. We can't control our low population but we can make ourselves a much better brand than what we've had in the past.

(Not sure these guys know everything they think they do but they sure are entertaining. If true, their athletic department has more leaks than the 1986 Pontiac Grand Am I drove in high school.)

I don't think the B12 will be the first to add schools

I am being told that Swofford and the ACC are about to have the rug pulled out from under them.
And not by us.....not yet.

As promised, here it is:

Slive doesnt want to expand again so soon but CBS may force his hand. He is being told by CBS that they will be willing to nearly double the current contract if the SEC can successfully petition the NCAA for a semi-final round in their conference championship and add two more schools(one each in VA and NC).
UNC has become the SEC's main target. There is a ton of mutual interest.
ESPN would still have Tier2 for UNC but you can bet the farm that they do not want to lose the marquee basketball match-ups of UNC. take this article for example, you will understand why UNC is the most important school the ACC has in regards to television. tvbythenumbers.zap2it.c...-season/123450/
Also, by adding nearly 20 million people to their footprint, the SEC Network will quickly find it's footing.

I'm not 100% certain but it is very possible that Slive will make an announcement before we will if CBS and him can get everything on the same page

Thus, an SEC team could play 12 regular season games, plus two conference championship games, plus two playoff games, for a total of 16 games. For reference, if I looked right, the FCS champion could potentially play 16 games, so the NCAA probably would grant the SEC request.

Ok... Well take nc state for $300

The unc system won't allow the breakup of unc and ncstate I don't think. They're also a little cocky about the ACC when you go there. I dont see it, but I'm color blind so I miss some things.

VPI and Maryland maybe...

The ACC crumbling leaves too many good schools homeless to seem like it will happen.
