equals a road win. Really damn crazy as I continue to reflect on a road W against the mighty big10 west. Had you told me 3 turnovers and two blocked kicks prior to the game, I would have lost a ton of money. Just really dang incredible. Well done to all involved with the ISU football team. Keep on building!

Campbell's new buzzphrase is "it's a game of imperfection" - it makes me wonder if he felt like he was putting too much pressure on the players to be perfect and realized he needed to change his tune on that. I really love the phrase - the game will not go perfect and it's how you respond to the imperfections and mistakes that makes you win or lose.

Yeah, i actually was telling friends as I watched it that as much as that stuff stunk in the first half....CMC was probably drooling at the opportunity to teach through it (during and after the game).

But back to the original poster, conventional wisdom would say an anticipated close game would be out the window after watching the first quarter of our game and i was ready to be in my own head with the "well...if we had only made one less mistake" had we lost.

I do wonder if stuff like this builds more confidence than say had we went out and capitalized and won like 28-7.

Not exactly sure.

I think it builds more character and self confidence. Next time you are in a mess, you buckle down and keep fighting because you have overcome it before.

Why do people keep saying they would have 7 if we did t turn it over or screw up? Their touchdown and one that was close were off our mistakes. Our D truly did shut them out. We play without the ST mistakes and turnovers and we shut them out.

Not convinced either of these teams are that good this year. Hope I am wrong about one of them. This ISU team would have a hard time even beating the bottom feeders of the Big 12 at this point. That being said no reason to think that we wont improve dramatically in October like CMC teams always do.

I went back and looked. Iowa was in ISU territory 4 times, 2 times from the blocked punt, 1 time from the Dekkers int, and the final drive of the game. Take the mistakes out and this game is not close.

3 turnovers and 2 blocked punts and they've a very good defense and its at their place and all they got was a gift TD off the first turnover. Zero the rest of the way. I'd say we can play D.
we can but let's be honest; Petras and Brian Ferentz were two of the most valuable Cyclones on Saturday. That's the biggest reason they only had 7 pts.

we should go bowling, and Iowa is in the big 10 west, which may be the worst division in football this year. I think both of these teams bowl.

Our mistakes were correctable. We play a clean game it's something like a 24-7 win.

They are what they are....can't really correct being the worst offense in D1.
A good question would be if we were to play this game again after what we saw. I would call ISU -6 with o/u 30.

The goal line is fumble was a fluke, the others were mistakes of a young team in a supremely hostile environment.
I'm not worried about it, we knew turn overs and blocked punts is the only way they can win.
Clean up punts and move on.

Good teams can win through adversity. Could be the start of a magical season.
Could be. That win felt amazeballs, I don't care about any of the details as long as we somehow beat ToE. But that Iowa team is super broken and honestly just isn't very good. I want to see how we do against an actually good team in two weeks vs BU.
