Team has dropped the last 5 games. Must have been tough for him to see the support Prohm and Co. got is S.C.. But it's alright he got paid by the Bulls.

If it weren't for the Bulls, another NCAA team would've gotten him eventually. It was obvious ISU was a stepping stone for him. I don't think he'll care as he was going to leave.

Lee Love played for him. Not sure if that's the one you are talking about. Met him at the Zone one night--I said, I didn't think you were 21. He game me the shhh. I wasn't always thinking on those penny pitcher nights at the Zone.

Loved watching Tim and his teams--so much fun. Remember his McDonalds commercials? Plus, I was in college at the time, so that probably skews my views.

I always thought the funniest commercial that Floyd was in was the First American Bank one with him and Eustachy and Floyd telling him about the money he buried in the back yard.

It was sad that Tim didn't want to be here. He was a great coach, but always had one foot out the door.

Whether Floyd wanted to be here or not, his wife didn't want to be in Ames at all. They definitely had the next big thing on their mind. He did some good/great things while he was at ISU but on a personal level I hated to see Johnny Orr, who bled cardinal and gold, be replaced by a guy that was going to better deal us the first chance he got. Nature of the beast.

He built on what Johnny left him. LE built upon that. ISU basketball is in a better place thanks to all three.

Another of the many stories, that it is not always greener on the other side. Could of probably have a long career coaching at Iowa State. Wish him the best on his retirement!

I agree 100%. The business side worked and ultimately that's what matters. Like I said, on the personal side is where it bothered me and that's with the full benefit of hindsight.

I'm in agreement with others that Tim Floyd was great for ISU. He was an excellent recruiter - probably our best (Fizer / Cato / Willoughby) and if he stayed, we probably would have had Hinrich and Collison. When he assumed the job after Johnny and took ISU to the next level in terms of the B8 Championship and the Sweet 16. He was a great defensive coach. I wish him the best in retirement.

I was at ISU b-ball Camp summer after my sophomore year. Floyd was watching one of our games. After the game he grabs me and says “I like what I see but not sure your a fit for the basketball team”. Later that day a pair of ISU football assistants are watching and asking me why I wasn’t signed up for football camp.

That next summer I went to football camp.

There was another Love not Lee that never made it to the court.

IIRC Floyd was trying to position himself to come back to ISU after Fred left. I loved Tim when he was here but I'm very glad we went with Prohm.

Even at the time, I thought Floyd's move to the Bulls was aiming too high, too soon, trying to be successor to Jackson with a a rebuild on his hands. But I never blamed him for making the jump, if that's what he wanted.

He could've bounced back into CBB, and looked headed that way at USC until the Mayo probe and defections of key players. Floyd did OK at UTEP, but I can understand if his passion gradually dwindled.

Tim would be a great assistant for a young up-and-coming HC

Wonder if we could have him back in Hilton ala McCarney for FB
