He played for Don Haskins at UTEP when he was in college. He has a .625 career college coaching record winning almost 500 games. Note that UTEP put a new AD in place last week.

I just remember Lee Love. I think he was in the class with fizer. He played a year or two and that was it. Some more names from the Floyd Era that never panned out were Lamont Sides, Ty Shine, and Rodney Hampton. All guards. We almost landed Earl Watson from KC also. Went to UCLA.Wasn't there a guard by the last name of Love that never made it on the court also? He played in an exhibition game but never was eligible. Big strong and could handle the ball.
I always liked him. Really good basketball coach. Had he stayed at ISU I think he would have built a top-20 program and made a Final Four somewhere along the way.

Sounds like Henderson in the Big 22It was an exhibition game he had 19 points shot lights out- Then my dad said...."You won't be confused about the two Loves for long. He hasn't got the grades or a qualifying ACT score and he is never going to get them"
Floyd came to speak at the summer ISU golf outing in Exira the week he was hired. He was very funny and said "and I heard that Hoiberg kid can play a little" when someone asked what he knew about ISU. I golfed with Pete Taylor that afternoon...what a great memory.
I believe you are correct that Henderson was the one who lit up that game. He didn't qualify. Ended up as one of the best players ever at La Tech. Bruton was the Aussie from Indian hills. #1 juco point guard in America. I believe they ruled him ineligible due to taking some money to play ball down under professionally. It was a weird deal.Sounds like Henderson in the Big 22
I was there as well, I was 15 but remember Floyd was great in front of the crowd. My dad and I golfed with Gene Smith. That fall he spent a Sunday combining with us.
Don't you mean Iowa City?People have gone to great lengths to get out of El Paso. What a horrible city!!
Ha! I have only been to Iowa City once and I was too young to remember it, but I lived in El Paso for a year and other than having a great heavy metal scene, the city is just terrible.Don't you mean Iowa City?

If I recall correctly there were kids that were teammates on that team with Bruton that were deemed eligible but Bruton was not.Yet three other players that did the same as Bruton played that season. There had to be more to it. The kid that got 23 semester hours in SUMMER SCHOOL played for Mizzou- 23 Effin Hrs WTF!
