I'm sorry, I LOVE Monte, but Tinsley was a Freak. Litterally the best ball handler I've ever seen at any level. In addition he took a team with not much talent around him in 2001 and won the BIG XII (Our other best players were Horton, Shirley, Rancik, and a Freshman version of Jake Sullivan). Plus...he NEVER lost to KU or at Hilton.

Tinsley was the best college basketball player I've ever watched play in person. He made people look stupid.

I mean..seriously...I'm sure you've seen this:

Oh My God, I watched Tinsley when he played, and as a younger kid I always wanted to be him while playing. But That play from 9-22 seconds was absolutely absurd, how could I havee forgotten about that one

Jamal Tinsley is the answer here and it's not close yet. Jamal Tinsley was the most dominate player in the Big12 his senior year... he could distribute, and get into the lane/to the rim WHENEVER he wanted. Give Monte some time. He's ridiculously good... but let's not compare yet, because anyone who watched both would tell you it's not close yet.

This thread again, smh. We all love Monte and he is great for this team, but people must not be remembering Tinsley accurately if this is even a debate right now. Tinsley was dominate.

Anyone who is answer Morris at this point through his career must not have been around or at least very attentive when Jamal was playing for us. Tinsley was ridiculous.

Monte Stays all 4 years to be a Senior

Diallo chooses Iowa State and becomes a Fizer type player (like tinsley had) and he stays til his soph year.

Those two things happening is the only way we will have a comparison between Jamaal and Monte.

Tinsley toyed with people on offense and on defense. It was ridiculous the number of times that Tinsley would let his guy get by him so he could nonchalantly block the shot from behind and start a break the other way. He also gets points for the faces he made while driving to the bucket.

That said, Morris is stupid good and takes care of the ball like Tinsley never did. They are just two very, very different players. I am glad both are Cyclones.

JT was a freak when it came to ball handling. I've yet to see players anywhere with his handles.

I never watched Tinsley play but he seems like a scoring first PG who was mad dribbling skills. MM runs the show, makes smart passes and takes good shots.

In Hoiball i'm going with Monte.
In any other system I'll take Tinsley.

BDK you're just like all the little kids that think Lebron is better than MJ because you never saw MJ. Tinsley would have been awesome in Hoiball and I would have taken him a 100 times out of a 100 over Morris. If we had Tinsley we'd probably be undefeated and probably be right up there close to UK and Virginia as the favorites to win it all.

This negates everything you say after....

Tinsley > Morris.

Passing - Morris
Scoring - Tinsley
Game making - Tinsley
Defense - Tinsley
Rebound - Tinsley

Tinsley was the main reason we were very good in 1999-2001. He was unreal. If you have seen him back in the day, you would agree with Tinsley > Morris comparison.

Tinsley would be dominant in Hoiball. Imagine his ability to get into the lane with all of the spacing ISU's offense has. He'd be unstoppable. Tinsley, by far, is the correct choice. Morris could get there eventually but he's only a sophomore after all.

This thread makes my brain hurt. Tinsley was probably the second best player we've ever had behind only Grayer.

Yes, unreal to even have this debate. JT could put a team on his back. Monte is nowhere close to that. He is great leading a team, but he is not able to be the man himself.

They run different teams. Niang being able to handle the rock is a tremendous help to Morris.

Okay, so here's a question (I won't start a new thread on it), but what would you rather have as a duo if you had to pick between a front court and back court.

Backcourt of Tinsley and Morris
or
Frontcourt of Fizer and Niang?
