Actually by you're rationale Chizik did build Auburn, he won a NC with Tuberville's guys. So Sumlin and he may be a better comparison. A&M brought in top 20, sometimes 10 recruiting classes for decades. They are at the exact same spot in the SEC as they were in the big 12, a second tier team. Sumlin didn't build anything there, he showed up to a program with nearly every advantage possible, including a cupboard stocked full of 4 and 5* talent and great coordinators.

WHAT????/

Nuts man. He inherited a team that had just lost a ******* top 5 draft pick at QB. Tannehill was TOP 5!

Mike Sherman went 4-5 in the Big 12 that year. HE LOST 3 MORE CONFERENC GAMES IN A WORSE CONFERENCE WITH A TOP 5 DRAFT PICK SENIOR QB THAN SUMLIN DID WITH A FRESHMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2011 Texas A+M was a 6-6 team just like ISU before the bowls. 6-6 and no better than the Clones with a top 5 pick at QB. That is the definition of blowing goats no matter how loaded your roster may be. Yes they have talent due to their location why you using that in your argument can't we agree A+M has always had talent even when they suck? That is my point in the Big 12 A+M was closer to ISU than to OU or UT!

Sumlin inherited a team that sucked but had good Texas recruits and it immediately was an upper level SEC squad. Who else has won in Tuscaloosa recently? And you are calling them an SEC equivalent of ISU?

Again I just proved my point for why when they were in the Big 12 they were more of an equal to the Clones than an equal of OU. Now in the SEC they are an equal of LSU or Bama. People are picking them to finish above loaded squads like Ole Miss even without Football at QB. Please tell me how they are an SEC equivalent of ISU because you said they are in the same spot in that conference that they were in the SEC.

How the hell can any CFB fan discredit Kevin Sumlin and what hes done in 2 years at A+M and say Sherman had him set up to succeed. Again he inherited a 6-6 team that just lost a top 5 pick at QB.

Nuts man, nuts.

Since the Big 8 and SWC fell apart/merged in the mid 90s....

OU won a lot more than A+M
OSU won more than A+M
UT won a lot more than A+M
KSU won a lot more than A+M
Texas Tech won more than A+M
Colorado won more early than A+M and overall are pretty close
Nebraska won a lot more than A+M
And Missou won a little more than A+M but again its close

That leaves ISU, Kansas, and Baylor as the only 3 teams that A+M had more success than during their 16 seasons in the league. Second tier????:twitcy:

WHAT????/

You should have stopped after your first post.

Sumlin is starting his third season at A&M. This is the first year he's really had time to "build" something there. What Sumlin has shown so far that he can win with another coach's top recruits and a Heisman-caliber QB (who was recruited by the previous staff). Certainly nothing wrong with that.

It might be wise to give it a couple of more years before you declare that Sumlin has built a consistent winner at A&M.

And BTW, your statement that A&M has stolen the state of Texas from UT is laughable at best...
