It's a testament to the quality of skill players we had because the lack of any misdirection plays makes it even more difficult to gain yardage since pretty much every defense flows to the ball with little risk we're going to make them pay for it.
Almost every single player we have playing now were “most quality” recruits coming into ISU than their predecessors

Duh!
Some of you fans are unbearable. I bet after our first three games you didn’t think “Manning is the absolute worst.” I understand the competition wasn’t the same as these last two weeks, but how much of the ineptitude is on Dekkers? He has been less than impressive and holds onto the ball wayy too long, wayy too often
Everyone wants to blame someone and have a silver bullet to fix it. There are a number of things wrong with the offense, including the OL and the QB; as well an RB injuries and not a deep WR corps.

The OC isn’t perfect, but it’s not lost on me that he has been in place during the winningest period in ISU history. The offense had a lot to do with it And so did Manning. Like a HC, I’d be hesitant to make a change. In the modern era, name a better OC at ISU….maybe Loney?

ISU has been punching above it’s weight for 6 years. Last in B12 in number of donors, donations, NIL, etc.. Who is going to pony up the money to ensure that we can actually upgrade at the OC position? No, really?

I don’t fault Dekkers for the turnovers fully because I like aggressiveness but they are ending up being massive setbacks. Today and against Baylor were huge huge turning point. Sadly we have to assume he throws at least one and likely two INTs every game and hope we can counter but we aren’t doing that. Very costly.
He has more INTs than TDS this season versus P5 competition. Small sample size, but not very encouraging. He may want to channel that aggressiveness into try to be more mobile, move the pocket, scramble, etc.. they also may want to start rolling him out.

but Manning doesn't like his QBs on the move.

Listen to Ben Bruns on Iowa Everywhere. Looks like Kansas ran Cover 4 and dared us to run the ball and we couldn't.

He just needs to do better. The KU game was absolutely terrible. I have a hard time thinking anyone wouldn’t agree with that.

And I think I’m pretty levelheaded/patient about these sorts of things. These guys are professionals…and we are not. They deserve a level of respect and an understanding that we can’t likely do what they do. BUT there was a lot about that KU game that is was inexplicably bad. Just from the offense. The special teams is a whole other problem. Need a coordinator.

You think Tom Herman would come back? He’s available. And no I’m not joking. He would be ten times more efficient than Manning.

I’ve heard about him on there. If they were playing straight up quarters and we couldn’t beat it both running and throwing, that’s a bigger indictment of this offensive philosophy than previously thought. Running that as a base defense, especially without elite talent has been pretty much destroyed and running hutch underneath it should be a fireable offense. You have to have bailing corners and he should be feasting on that.

Just looked up what KU has allowed and their pass defense has been atrocious. Now, if it’s Cover 4, maybe Dekkers just missed everyone down the field.

It says a lot when few people on this forum donate.
Wonder where CW stands on the list?
Everyone has an excuse. If you don't pony up, don't complain.

Every single coach and recruiting person on offense needs to go. We don't develop, recruit and identify talent at all on offense.

Defensively we do. Offensively, we do not. Despite every offensive line problem we have, none of our younger players sniff the field. Same at receiver, etc...

And then of course there's the scheme and play calling.

Name on offensive player not currently on an NFL roster who improved in his time at Iowa State (X will be on an NFL roster so I'm including him in that group FYI)

“Who are you throwing to, Hunter?”
“No one, Grandma. Let’s go home.”
