Tyler Buesgens from MN committed to ISU yesterday also..3rd last year at state at 182..2nd at USAW Folkstyle Nationals at 195..another good pickup. Staff is building a lot of depth (especially around 197)
I don't know about the money situation but a lot of kids in wrestling go for very little or no money. I think that is the case here. When I was in school, there were lots of 2 or 3x state champs who only got their books paid for.I don't know a lot about recruiting. This class seems massive to me, though. Was there a lot of scholarship money available?

Did these scholarships become full cost of attendance scholarships with the new NCAA rulings? Doesn't make them that much more lucrative but a slightly better situation for all involved.Division 1 scholarship limit for wrestling is 9.9. These are normally divided up where some will get none or as little as 1/8th of a scholarship or as much a full ride (very rare). For reference, 1/8th of an in-state scholarship is less than $1,000 per year.

9.9 scholarships seems really low. Really stretching the dollar. Are other non revenue sports hamstringed that bad?

Agree. Any of the schools that have big non-revenue teams (not football or basketball) have poor ratio's. For instance, ISU has 33 on the men's track team...they share 12.6 scholarships; the wrestling team shows 36 on the roster...they share 9.9.Men's sports are. Wrestling and baseball are probably the worst in terms of the scholarship-to-lineup ratio.

Yes someone like Carr gets a full ride or damn near it. He is a top 5 kid in the entire class. So do you think someone like Carr would get a full ride, or not even him?
I think a guy like Carr would end up with a full ride. I've talked to some past wrestlers and if someone has good grades the coaches/schools can get pretty creative. Maybe he gets 1/2 athletic and 1/2 academic promised to him.So do you think someone like Carr would get a full ride, or not even him?
Do you have the article or video of Dresser talking about the rating of this class? This is the first I had heard that. Love hearing it.Yes someone like Carr gets a full ride or damn near it. He is a top 5 kid in the entire class.
Interesting to hear Dresser call this year's class a B class. Said it could develop into an A over time. He also said that he will be on the road a lot this winter because him and his staff need to land an A class next year. They're off to a good start so far with Chris Foca
Track and field/cross country is worst. Lineup for xc is 7 runners, indoor track-17 events, outdoor track- 21 eventsNot even roster sizes -- just the number of bodies required to field a lineup.
Football is 3.54:1 (85 scholarships, 24 starting positions)
WBB is 3.0 (15 to 5)
MBB is 2.6 (13 to 5)
Baseball is 1.30, if you assume no DH and only one pitcher
Wrestling is 0.99 per weight class
