Anyone else excited about this card? Khabib is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the UFC but Gaethje is no joke. He has serious power and is a former All-American wrestler. It should be a fantastic fight.

I'll certainly be watching. Good little stretch of fighting here with Lopez v. Lomachenko this past weekend and UFC 254 on Saturday.

WTF was Lederman thinking with her scorecard? Lopez definitely earned the decision but no way he won 11 of 12 rounds. She should have her credentials pulled.

Yea that was ridiculous. I thought even the 117-111 was a little much. Was also surprised to see all 3 had Lopez winning rounds 1-7. I had thought toward the middle there it was more of a tossup. Was expecting more of a 115-113 or 116-112.

I think I had Lopez winning 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 12; Loma winning 7, 8, 9, 10, 11... so 115-113.

I hope there's a rematch. That was Loma's first fight in over a year, I like his chances in a second fight.

Judges stink all around. I'm a bit of a novice in boxing but I had it 115-113 Lopez and I thought the only close round was 9. I thought if the judges were biased toward Loma, they could have given him 9.

This might have been best for Loma. You can't wait 6 rounds to get started against high level boxers.

Looks like we had the same thing switching 2 and 9. I thought all the judges cards were bad. Lederman should never judge again if she thought Loma only won a round.

Awful matchup for Khabib. Gaethje is probably the only guy in the division with the combination of takedown defense and striking that presents him a real challenge. If Gaethje keeps it on it's feet, I don't think it makes it to the third round. It'll be interesting for sure. I kind of hope Gaethje wins because I think he'd be up for a McGregor fight which I think is the only chance for McGregor to see Khabib again.

I've been a boxing fan all my life. Took a hiatus after the Pacquiao v. Bradley rip off, even though I'd had it with boxing judges long before then. Just started getting back into it in the past year or so. Doesn't look like much has changed.

We all know what Khabib's gameplan is going to be. He's going to try to hold Gaethje down and waste his energy. I think Gaethje will do a better job avoiding this than what Poirier or McGregor did.

Gaethje has serious KO power, but I don't think Khabib was been seriously rocked in his career.

Im huge into boxing. Have been my whole life. I think the 117-111 scorecard was right. If you go back and just watch those later rounds. Lopez was still doing more than Lomo. It just seemed like Lomo was doing more because he didn't do crap the whole fight. I have no idea how Timothy Bradley gave Lomo round two. He threw like 5 punches. I can deal with the 116-112 cards. I get that. Ledermans was was off but Lomo didn't exactly blow Lopez out in the rounds he was awarded. It just seemed like that since the early rounds were so lopsided. If you look at the numbers per round. They were almost even.

Khabib did get rocked by Michael Johnson. Possibly. Rogan thinks so.

Kind of agree but it's not like Lopez was doing anything to blow Loma out in the early rounds he was awarded either. He was just more active and coming forward, didn't land anything meaningful, earned the rounds because Loma was doing absolutely nothing. In the later rounds Loma won he was landing actual, clean punches. Lopez did work the body very well early on, but really didn't land many clean shots upstairs all night.

I agree with that also. However, He was landing about 15-20 punches and Lomo was around 5-7. So you have to give him those rounds. I will say this. If they fight again and Lomo starts fighting in round 2 or 3. I think Lomo will blow him out.

I was surprised Loma coasted for as long as he did. He's always been a slow starter, cerebral fighter, plays great D and learns the other guy's tells, but I figured he'd turn it on after round 3 or 4, not round 6 or 7. He basically handed Lopez the fight by doing that.

I actually just rewatched the McGregor fight. McGregor was doing something in the first that I think may be a key. He protected against damage and he didn't wear himself out futily fighting to get up. Later on, until he got submitted, he did fairly well at avoiding getting taken down. Gaethje is undoubtedly better at takedown defense and I think Khabib is going to have a real tough time taking him down and holding him down like he has done in the past. Khabib can get tired too if you push him. I don't think he will have a cardio advantage in this fight. I think he will still win because I don't want to go against the undefeated guy but Gaethje is a perfect problem for his skillset where Conor or any one of the other top fighters in the division really don't have that combo.

Gaethje is a better wrestler than most of Khabib’s opponents, however he doesn’t really utilize it on offense.

As always it will come down to takedown defense. Khabib will try to take you down and pound you for 25 minutes. I’m a big fan of Gaethje and his style and he will never stop, but until someone proves otherwise, Khabib will win because of takedowns.
