Id say he will be headed west. I remember when he 1st blew up he went on n on about Gonzaga and how that was the team he always wanted to play for. I dont think enough of you relize how good he will be and what a loss this will be. I have zero faith all of these gaurds we have will be around for their entire time. I just hope he doesnt pick Wisconsin.

He might, or he might not. I won't discount the recruiting skills of McDermott and his staff just yet. Gonzaga has a good program, with good recent tradition, but they are still not North Carolina or Duke. Either way, these are the types of kids we should be after.

Well, in his latest articles from multiple recruiting websites (not just scout.com and rivals.com), as well as mounting evidence suggests that it's a race amongst Iowa, Iowa State, and Gonzaga. Iowa is still completely in it, despite of what some people may wish. Lick has done a great job catching up, and it wouldn't be a big surprise if he picked Iowa.

But with Iowa, Iowa State, and Gonzaga, as well as the fact that UW only has one scholly to offer, as well as loads of talent at the PG position, I don't see Gibbs much in UW's picture.

I've been wrong before though.

Iowa has no chance. The final 3 in no particular order are Wisconsin, ISU, and Gonzaga. Weeks ago the top 3 were Wisc, ISU, and UNI, but the Panthers used their last Scholarship on a guard from IL. Now that Gonzaga has offered they are in the Mix. My source is a college coach not affiliated with ISU.

Mark Miller (Wisconsin guy) and several other very reputable posters who have real contacts think ISU and Wisky are in the lead. We've heard it from several other posters on other Hawk boards. It's not wishing, it's reality.

Edit: That being said, I'm not saying Iowa is completely out of it. But every bit of news regarding him says ISU and Wisky lead.

How would a college coach not affiliated with ISU know if ISU is in the lead? I highly doubt that Gibbs would talk to another college coach about what colleges are in the lead, especially if he's saying very little to actual reporters.

Not to mention, if he did in fact talk to another college coach about his recruiting, and did mention who may or may not be in the lead, I highly doubt that this particular college coach would go around telling people this information. Coaches are usually pretty quiet about this sort of thing.

While I see what you're saying, I have stopped listening to postes with "inside information", regardless of their name recognition. Several posters on the HN premium board that had gotten recruiting information correct in the past had Torrey Mack coming to Iowa, right before he committed to Virginia.

Recruiting is a very difficult thing to speculate - because it very rarely turns out the way anybody thinks it will. The onl thing that I'm going to listen to about Gibbs' recruiting is Gibbs himself. Given, that is very little to work with, but the the little information provided straight from him has him saying that Iowa, ISU, UW, and Gonzaga are all tied for the lead.

The only credible information is information from him, IMO.

Now, I'm not saying that this Miller guy from the UW boards may not have his own information, I'm just saying that I doubt it's as reliable and "open and shut" as some people would believe.

I agree it isn't final until it comes from Gibbs mouth. This Miller guy isn't just a random poster. He is the editor of Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook. So it would probably be acurate to say that he has some contacts.

I have no inside info or any idea where Gibbs is going...but I will say that some recruits do tell other college coaches who their favorites are...before Fizer committed to the good guys... Bob Huggins was shocked when Marcus told him that we were the leader for him on a house visit...that's just one example but it happens.

Your words Southern Hawk-
-"latest articles from multiple recruiting websites (not just scout.com and rivals.com), as well as mounting evidence suggests that it's a race amongst Iowa, Iowa State and Gonzaga"

-"The onl thing that I'm going to listen to about Gibbs' recruiting is Gibbs himself"

Please provide the quotes (and source) from Gibbs stating that it is a race between those three schools.

I agree with Chad on this one. Being from Wisconsin, I can vouch for Miller. He is highly respected as one of the more reputable sources on recruiting in these parts. That doesn't mean he is always right, but he generally has his hand on the pulse of what's going on with with recruits. I would tend to put credence in things he says.

Sure, fair enough....

"Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can sit down with my parents and make the decision," said Gibbs. "Right now, all four schools are still equal. The Gonzaga offer makes things a little tough for me, but all four schools have a lot to offer me individually."

That is from Grant Gibbs, as posted by Tom Kakert at Iowa Hawkeyes Football: HawkeyeReport.com. http://iowa.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=687344

That was part of a premium information, but that was posted 3 days ago. I don't know why he would say all four schools lead equally if he really meant that Iowa is out of it.

Eliminating Iowa from his top 4 while living in the heart of Hawkeye country would be difficult. Now they can finish 4th and everyone can think they may have been a close second.

I could see him telling the UNI coaches that they were out of the mix. If he respects their coaches, he would want them to know they need to get another recruit on board.
