If we lose I will be despondent and will probably give up on the year. Yes, it's an overreaction but it's how I roll.

Tournament team or not, they're coming to Hilton and I expect an ISU win. A loss to the Panthers would be a huge blow to the pysche of this team and fan moral. That said, I think our boys come out fired up and take UNI out of the game early. ISU by a comfortable 13.

This.

ISU needs to get back to home court dominance against average/above average teams. Losing at Hilton to the UNIs/Drakes/Nebraskas/etc. of the world is not acceptable.

Last night on Channel 8 news, they were reporting that some guys are getting sick on our team...including one Craig Brackins. What they have....I don't know. I hope he and the others are feeling better. (Agian, just what I heard.)

Anyone hear about this?

Haha....wow. You're talking about a team that returns ALL starters, 9 out of 10 total, picked to WIN the MVC, and were already getting Top 25 votes, and smoked Boston College.

You may be joking a bit, but back off the ledge! If there's such thing as a "good loss" this would be one.

At best, UNI would be a middle of the pack (7th or 8th) team in the Big 12. In my opinion, losing to them at home really hurts the Clones' chances at an NCAA tournament bid, and is an early indication that they may not be as good as many hope. These are the kind of games that bubble teams look back on as lost opportunities and/or reasons they aren't going dancing. Since it is a home game, I would consider it worse loss than Northwestern.

Um, no, it wouldn't be.

The game is at Hilton. We should not lose to a MVC team at Hilton. Ever. Receiving votes in the top 25 is much different than actually being a top 25 team. Right now, UNI is not one.

We have more talent. We have more depth. We have more fire power. This game is at home. All of this trumps any sort of "experience" advantage UNI has.

We SHOULD win this game. IF we do not, it'll be very disheartening, IMO.

While losing this game doesn't end the season... it does a lot to eliminate the chances of having a super special final year with Craig and Gilstrap.

I know thats hard to say in basketball with having so many games.... but I think the writing will be on the wall if we get taken down by Northwestern and UNI at home.

I really hope we win this game.

Yeah that's key, having it at home. I disagree that the Panthers would be 7th or 8th. The MVC is a tough league. There isn't THAT much of a difference. Look at what Bradley did to Kansas a few years ago, Southern Illinois almost did, UNI has done to us, etc. Just a few examples. Veteran teams, great shooters, great defense.

Top 7 conference.

CONFERENCE CENTRAL MEAN SIMPLE AVERAGE TEAMS

1 BIG EAST = 84.56 84.26 ( 1) 16
2 BIG 12 = 83.49 83.77 ( 2) 12
3 ATLANTIC COAST = 83.32 83.67 ( 3) 12
4 SOUTHEASTERN = 81.34 81.06 ( 4) 12
5 BIG TEN = 81.00 80.78 ( 5) 11
6 PACIFIC-10 = 79.47 79.43 ( 6) 10
7 MISSOURI VALLEY = 77.76 77.24 ( 8) 10

I think UNI is a lot better than Northwestern, but losing at home...I agree with you.

You have to take off the clone colored glasses for a second. Lose to an MVC team....EVER? Recieving votes put UNI in the Top 35, that IS actually being ranked.

Should win yes, but would rather lose to UNI than a crap Big 10 team.

More talent and fire power, not more depth. UNI returned like 9 out of 10 and plays a ton of guys.

Anyway...will be a great in-state rivalry game. Maybe Mac and Jake will get in a tussel like Mac/Morgan.

I'll repeat, if we lose I will be "done" unless we have a bunch of sick guys. Losing to UNI at home with our best team in quite a few years...unacceptable. I have a lot going on and becoming un-invested in ISU basketball is easy for me. It's a defense mechanism.

I agree in part. This is a critical game, especially coming off a loss to a team while not bad, I feel we should have defeated.

Losing 2 straight, one of them at home, would be really tough for the team. This is not a must win, but it's one we really, really need to get.

Could you do us all a favor and have your pre-meltdown meltdown alone on your couch instead of including all of us in your insanity?

thanks.

If we play like we a cappable of playing we should win this game by 8-10pts. We will start to pull away early in the 2nd half and I am sure UNI will make a run at the end of the game.

Conversely and likely.. it will be interesting to see how this ISU team responds to flalling down by 8-10 points in some of these upcoming games.

Ok, we should win this team. Everyone points out how this team brings everyone back and is so experienced; how did we do against basically the same team last year? Oh yeah, we won...on the road! Now we add in Christopherson, Gilstrap, Colvin, etc. and it is at hilton, if we lose this I think we are in a world of hurt.

I think we can lose 3 games in the non-conference and be sitting very pretty: NW, @Cal, & Duke. We need to win all the others, and UNI is probably the next toughest game outside of the 3 mentioned previously (Bradley and Houston will also be tough).

Finally, I am 100% behind GMac, but it is NCAA or bust. If we don't make it, it is all on him because this team has the talent to do it. Having said that, I think we will get there.:yes::yes:

This will be the toughest team we've faced this year by far. It will be our first real test at stopping very capable scoring guards.

I for the most part agree with the sentiment - if we lose this game the basketball team is in trouble. I will, however, qualify the statement by saying if key members of the team are sick then I will hold off my judgment. UNI is a good team, but under ordinary circumstances this ISU team should beat them. A team playing with/without several key ill members would not be an ordinary circumstance.

The one thing I'd love to know is what kind of a week of practice ISU had the last couple days...
