Baylor QB will not sit 1st half of TCU game according to what I read over at sicem365.

There is also one poster who seems upset that "muslim Butler" didn't get a suspension.
This has been addressed already, I think on Twitter by Blum.

The Baylor QB doesn't have to sit because he didn't get ejected for targeting or fighting. Getting disqualified for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties doesn't mean he'll miss time the next game. He is only disqualified from the remainder of that current game.

Any chance CMC surprises us with his integrity and decides to sit DM for the entire UT game?
Depends on the score. If we're getting smoked there is no reason to play him and risk injury. If we are smoking them and Kene/Lang can maintain then again there is no reason to play him. If it is close then play him.

Not really, I'm sure this is something in the locker room that isn't a big deal. They just needed to quash it in the media. If you have a team that doesn't try to protect their teammates in that situation it'd be a problem.

Clearly the guy that slapped (and then tried to punch) Montgomery deserved more due to contact with the ref.

So it looks like a solid strategy to get some borderline starter pick a fight with a star player and fall on the sword to get a double ejection. Good job Big12. Do we need to add "goon" as a position on the 2-deep now?

I think Tommy Birch tweeted saying, "the Big 12 has 24 hours to comment on if the suspension will carry over to the texas game. If the big 12 doesn't say anything, ISU has the next 24 hour window to appeal the suspension." Basically, ISU is going to be sending in the appeal today.

I personally don't expect to have him in the first half, but I am going to spin to sound awesome for ISU.

Just think if ISU goes in to halftime with a lead, ISU has the offense to milk clock and sit on that lead, but now ISU is getting a rested and pi$$ed off David Montgomery and Texas is tired from the first half and now has to try to tackle him!
I disagree with ever milking the clock. Especially against Texas.
  1. Apply foot to throat.
  2. Apply pressure to said throat.
  3. Increase pressure until foot meets ground or until throat and attached body no longer function.
  4. Profit.

pretty ridiculous that they threw him out of the game but let 31 demonstrably woof at our sideline for several seconds without even a penalty after Montgomery got ran out of bounds.

Generally the refs handled the first personal foul very poorly, and that probably led to the brawl. 31 should have been ejected for the tackle out of bounds and into a cart. DM could have gotten hurt by hitting that cart. Then to let him crow around for 30 seconds was just BS.

As far as DM goes, he screwed up and he knew it. Can't really see it any other way. He had an opportunity to walk away and didn't. I like that CMC is just not appealing. Just game plan to not have him in the first half right now. There are some skills that the other guys have that he can game plan to use against the Longhorns. Getting Kene to the edge on a quick pitch would be a good start.

Yeah, I think the refs should get at least a little bit of the blame here. After the scuffle on the ISU sideline it was clear that the situation was escalating, and the officials did a poor job of calming things down.

I would like to applaud Josh Knipfel through all this.

He spent the whole time just trying to break it up. Took a few shots from Baylor guys but never retaliated in kind. Took the initial blame for the whole thing.

Went to the locker room, came back, played a good rest of the game.

The life of an offensive lineman -- all the work, all the blame, none of the fame or glory.

As for David, he screwed up. Him sitting a half is fair. He should have walked away and trusted Knipfel and the ref to keep any Baylor scumbags away from him, but he did not. There has to be some consequence for that, and sitting a half is a reasonable one.

He was justifiably angry given the totality of events, but he still has to walk away nonetheless. Let Baylor give you another free 15 and celebrate in the end zone.

That would not be an example of integrity. Montgomery has been a model player, student-athlete, and stayed out of trouble. It would be over the top and unwarranted. It would surprise me if he did anything of the sort. Only way I see it happening is if the rb's are getting it done and he isn't needed.

I don't disagree, but what is he supposed to do when 2 punches are thrown at him? Just stand there and take it?

Yes.

I know that sucks, but let the Baylor guy PF and DQ himself right in front of the ref and then run the ball into the end zone a few players later.

"Punches" is a relative term when a guy is wearing a helmet and facemask, too.

Our coach is smarter than many message board contributors. He doesn't want that reviewed because of the risk it would put on Hakeem.

I have rewatched the Butler thing 5 times and still don't see why he is getting blamed for pancaking a DB that was holding him. Ya, he went after the guy, but there isn't anything in the rules that says you can't block someone into the ground. Looked to me like he tried to get off of him and the guy grabbed his legs and pulled him back down.

This seems to be a popular option among athletes. Problem was that Golesh didn't get there in time. Actually, we should probably just be happy Golesh didn't join the fight lol.
