Niles paul got two MIP's...and got suspended for one, I don't think there's any college in America with maybe the exception being BYU that couldn't have the same thing happen to them any given day.

How many games should a player miss when they are arrested for DUI?
And how many for a second alcohol related offense after said DUI?
Should law enforcement charge an under age person for public urination in addition to public intox if they are caught with their member out and peeing?
Does your answer change if the person plays college football?

Niles paul was never charged for DUI...I believe the one you're referring to he was charged with wreckless driving and minor in possession...

No OWI/DUI. He had a BAC of .035 which amounts to a teaspoon of cough medicine. However he was punished by the team for violating team rules it appears.

I don't know, I think personally it would have a lot to do with whether or not it was during the football season, and when you say arrested do you mean charged? or just arrested, I think the penalty (in my opinion) should be stiffer if the individual was found guilty, though there are varying circumstances of course.
2. Again it's all about circumstance, if you're specifically referring to Niles Paul, I if it was during the season he should most certainly be suspended for a game or 3, (I'm going off of memory so forgive me if I'm making myself look stupid here) but I don't think that the punishment should be removal from the team.
3. I was bombed one time and got caught peeing behind a bar in downtown lincoln by a bicycle cop, he gave me a ticket for public urination but did not cite me for public intoxication, I'm not a lawyer so I don't know what the rules are here, but if the rule is "you're drunk in public, you get a ticket" then yes you should get both, I don't think that the law though at least not in Nebraska, they could give out 5000 tickets every thurs-sat night if that was the case.

My individual answer does not change, I'm not gonna change your mind about this obviously, my main point was that I don't think that Bo Pelini or Tom Osborne would really put any of these kids lives (physically or mentally) in jeopardy to further the football program, and I certainly don't think they're any more guilty of doing that than 99% of the programs out there. Sorry this is long.
Even though I am very familiar with the Jack Trice story I checked it out to see what you were talking about. How is it ISU's fault that he was trampled by Minnesota players and died of internal injuries? Despite his claims that he was okay he was removed from the game and sent to the hospital. If you are referring to the broken collarbone, I guess you need to show me when it was discovered that he had indeed broken his collarbone on that second play. I'm sure that the ISU football team did not have a team doctor traveling with the squad back then. Was it discovered at the time or after he got to the hospital? If you have further knowledge of this, why send me to a website that doesn't have any of it?

I appreciate your response. I really didn't want to get into a peeing contest over the lack of punishment for Niles Paul 2nd offense in 14 months as it really is not a big deal to me.
What I really want is a response to your laughable assertion of using the Castelle dismissal as badge of honor on the discipline front. And comments on Johny the Jet's felony.
While I am still going from memory on castille, I wasn't aware of how many times he had "issues" before they actually cut him, if he indeed was cited/arrested several times before hand then he probably should have been cut before they actually cut him, if that's the point you're trying to make then I agree with you.
I am not going to give an opinion on Johnny Rodgers felony charge for a couple reasons.
1. I wasn't alive
2. I am pretty certain that the same things wouldn't have happened in this day and age, I don't think they would let a felon win the heisman trophy.

1. You have apparently bought into the rumors about Castille. A popular rumor around Nebraska is what you have assumed.
2. Niles Paul missed all of 2009 spring practice for a OWI and was punished over this summer for a public intoxication. Two alcohol offenses and zero games missed.
3. Teafatiller was a P.O.S. He did miss a few games, but the treatment of him does baffle me. He wasn't even really a contributor, but he was kept on the team for some reason. I believe he had 3 alcohol related offenses, maybe 4.
4. Andy Christensen missed an entire season while his case was in trial. He was found to be not guilty and was allowed back on the team after being suspended for a year. He didn't start and really didn't play much his final year after being reinstated.
5. Johnny Rogers issue is nearly 40 years old.
I'll throw in the case of Cody Glenn too. Starting linebacker in 2008 that was kicked off the team for the year after an unknown offense. Rumors about what that was too, but Bo didn't wait for the legal department to step in. He booted him for the year, which was about 8 games remaining.
When Suh had his accident last year he was given a field sobriety and breathalyser test. He passed the filed sobriety and his b.a.c. was under the legal limit. Why should he have been suspended?
