You mean like this reply:

"This x1000..which makes being a fan of any other school incredibly frustrating...I've had many actually question why I don't (and never will) fall on the buckeye sword...."

to my post:

"I know people who are grads of Bowling Green, Akron, etc., but who consider themselves primarily Ohio State fans. It is common. Like I said, Ohio is a different kind of state in this regard. I'm not comparing him to Chiz. Just saying that 90% of people from Ohio bleed crimson and grey."

He is describing how frustrating it is to be the exception to the Ohio State fan mentality, even at Toledo.

I get what he’s saying. What you aren’t getting is that they don’t want Matt Campbell to be their coach for those exact reasons.

It's ultimately the AD and Univ. that get the say on who the coach is though. OSU fans may ***** if Campbell was hired because he isn't a big name, but who cares? They would be proven wrong pretty quickly.

Not exactly sure.

Tell that to Dan McCarney. Big donors walked away the last couple years of him and he gets bounced down the road.

My guess as to the conclusions of the OSU investigation of the incident.

1) It didn't happen on campus or to a student, so its not a Title IX issue
2) Since it was not on Campus, its a police matter and up to the Police to investigate and not OSU. OSU stayed out of it as not to interfere in police matters or to give the impression they were steering the investigation.
3) The incident had already been reported to police, so mandatory reporting obligations were satisfied.
4) The Police investigated, no arrests were made, no charges filed. So, there was not enough to terminate his employment at that time. Messy divorce at the time etc etc.
5) When Urban Meyer said there was nothing there in 2015 he was referring to no arrests and no charges....should have been clearer at the podium.
6) Once Smith was arrested and OSU became aware of it, they fired him immediately. Per their domestic abuse policy.
7) Training and New policies and procedures put in place etc etc etc .

Same old story as always.
You're hired.

Some former Florida players on Meyer:

Ajagbe explained how Meyer would psychologically abuse players:

He’s the kind of dude that would get all the information he needs to get on you and he would use it to manipulate you or he would use it against you.

“If [Meyer] know that you’re not really smart, he’ll put you in front of the team and make you do trivia. And everyone would laugh at you.”

Nixon also described a pre-game ritual where Meyer would “grab a Gatorade bottle… and throw it at you.”

“I’m sure he thought he was joking, but it’s a f*cking full bottle of Gatorade, and he’s chucking it at people.”

Welcome to D1 football. I've had clipboards thrown at me on the sidelines, I thought it was funny and still do.

I've lived all over and the situation in Ohio is truly unique....You have 8 D1 Schools, but only 1 really matters;

A friend here is a BG grad...yet her house is an OSU swag museum; this is very common...

Well, the firs part is the worst. When you are intentionally humiliating people just for the fun of it, you have a screw loose. This is the least of his problems from Florida though. Aaron Hernandez was one of many players he covered for.

And just to add on....

There isn't a more entitled, arrogant and delusional fan base that that of tOSU

They make Nebraska and Texas look like the local scout trooops

I'm sorry but your just making this worse. OSU deserves to get Mangino.

Just imagine Iowa and Iowa fans if the state was 3-4 times larger and ISU was relegated to non-P5. I shudder at the thought.

No, HIPAA would not come into play at all. HIPAA is only a factor for "covered entities." Covered entities are pretty clearly defined by the law. Put it this way. If you're friends with a doctor, and you send him/her a picture of an injury in a non clinical capacity: "Check out this poison ivy rash!" and the doctor decides to share it with his/her spouse, there's no HIPAA violation. You're not a patient and they're not a provider in that scenario. But, let's say you sought treatment for the rash at the doctor's office, and then later texted them a picture of the rash, saying "I think it's getting better" HIPAA would be more likely to come into play, if they shared it.

simply put, HIPAA is not a reason why Urban's wife wouldn't tell him, or anyone else in authority, about this. It's just not. She's a nursing instructor, so I'm sure she's familiar with HIPAA, as well as Mandatory Reporter laws. She would not be penalized for reporting an abuse situation, and as a nurse, she would know that.

So how is the perpetrators boss the appropriate authority to tell? That seems like passing the buck. Should have been reported to police immediately, by anyone and everyone that saw those pictures or heard her tell about the abuse. Urban should have done the same as soon as he knew.

I work with an Akron grad. I doubt she knows they are the "Zips." She sure is following this scandal like a family member is on their deathbed, though.

She did go to the police. 9 police reports filed between 2012 and 2018

https://www.cleveland.com/osu/2018/08/records_show_history_of_domest.html

She also went to her circle of friends, aka the other coach's wives. Seems pretty appropriate that someone might share this stuff with their friends.

A lot of domestic assault doesn't get reported to police at all. There are a lot of conflicting emotions going on. A lot of fear of consequences. I'm not sure anyone is really in a position to judge who she should have alerted. The fact that she was alerting anyone at all is important. Lots of people suffer silently.
