Would have loved to be a fly on the wall listening to this conversation.

Watched the ESPN3 replay tonight after going to the game. IDK, I guess I expected Vitale to be a lot worse than he was. He wasn't overly annoying and was genuinely happy to be there. Then again, after years of listening to Ron Santo (R.I.P) call Cubs games on the radio, any other broadcaster can seem tolerable.

Shame on you.

All game long Vitale kept saying "Iowa State is going to be a very good Big 12 team". I wasn't sure how to take that?
He never said that we were going to be a really good team, he always said a really good "Big 12" team. And the Big 12, of course, is no Big 10 or ACC in Vitale's eyes, so I wasn't sure just how complimentary he was actually being?

I noticed this and had the same reaction. I also tired about how he kept going on about Walton committing to Michigan before Monte could as if it was obvious a recruit would chose them over us. Is this even true about Monte? I don't think I ever heard it and he was committed to us for a long time before signing.

It's obvious from this thread that I'm in the minority, and the pub was overall great for ISU, so I guess it's all good.

Yeah - get mad, baby!

Mad? I'm just warning you guys. He has praised Allen and taken pictures with fans on numerous occasions. He gave Nick Collison a standing ovation in one of his big games. I don't think he's evil or anything. Just know that after he leaves the building he goes back to his old, annoying habits. He only wants to hear himself talk, and the only thoughts running through his brain in most games are about two programs and goofy catch phrases.

Warning us? Should we take cover or wear tinfoil hats?

Seems like Vitale liked what he saw. Put Iowa State @ 13 in his AP ballot, one spot above Michigan.

Good for Vitale. I was alittle surprised we weren't ranked higher in the AP. Or coaches for that matter. Doesn't mean much I guess. It just wasn't a flukey game were we hit crazy shots all night. Played them straight up and looked good doing it.

After reading Chris W's musings column I have officially "Buried The Hatchet" re Dickie V, I always held it against him because he wouldn't do a game at Hilton Coliseum because of some old grudge he had with Johnny Orr, which I thought was ridiculous.

I'm very happy that Dickie came to Hilton so we could have a 2 hour informercial..

Way to go Cyclones, beating number seven Michigan was a heck of a way to start the basketball season.

How dare Vitale & his partner make comments comparing our game against Michigan with the Champions Classic last Tuesday featuring Michigan State versus Kentucky and Kansas versus Duke! It was ******** and outrageous!!!

Seriously wonder how some people get out of bed everyday.
The three games were similar.

Has anyone noticed how many positives he's tweeted about ISU the past day? It's around 10-15. That's over 500,000 avid basketball fan followers of his seeing the glory of ISU. ALLL HEIL DICKIE V BABY!

I've heard that he always wanted to play at Michigan and they were his first choice.

**** Vitale ‏@DickieV 10h Fab win by Fred Hoiberg's kids as ISU wins on the road vs a good BYU 5. Bad day for ACC as NC Central beats NCSU & Dayton beats Georgia Tech

I think this may be the biggest thing to come out of his visit to Hilton. He now has seen first hand that Freddie and our program are legit, and he brings instant national credibility and attention. Stay on the bandwagon Dickie V! He can be over the top, but I'd love for him to come back and call the ISU-KU game on Big Monday!
