I've said it before and I'm going to say it again: if there's ever a zombie apocalypse, my group will not have any kids under 14 or anybody else who can't defend themselves. Too much of a liability.

If you supervised your kids the way most adults on the show do, they wouldn't be around long anyway.

Good thing for Tyreese, they don't follow your strategy. And maybe Rick too (how old is Carl supposed to be?)

They had an escape plan. If they had the idea of the bus, they had an idea where to go in case. There may be a couple groups separated but it wont be for long.

How do you mean? Like hunting down the Governor or something?

Like securing the perimeter, starting to rid the surrounding area of walkers, start processing food (flour, beer, raising livestock), training in self defense, developing body armor, finding better living quarters and improving them. The purpose should be to develop a workable society and to start having more children to propagate the species. The women and children are the most vital resource. You could go to any library and research medieval lifestyle and pretty accurately find what info you would need to subsist and to defend yourself for the time when the fuel runs out and you need to make candles, etc.

Human beings have earned a living on this planet through intelligence and the ability to adapt and be proactive. We lived through the ice ages where there were abundant predators by being ruthless and cunning. I think the show underestimates people.

Great episode, but my favorite character is now gone. Hopefully, this will get the group off their #$%es to be more proactive about things.

Agree. Hershel was my fav as well. Rough way to go, he was the loving/kind soul of the group.... and this show will continue to eliminate characters like this to prove a point, this is hell on earth and it will always grow darker.

I would like for the characters & story to run across some new doctor/scientist that is working on a cure, or knows something else that we don't yet. (Like how this all happened, etc...)

Those people who survived the ice ages grew up in that environment and learned at a young age what they needed to do to survive with knowledge passed down from parents and other adults. The people in this show grew up basically how we live now with a huge buffer between us and living a life where every day is about survival and life or death situations. We aren't waking up everyday trying to figure out how to not die, and throwing people like that all of a sudden into the middle of a completely different situation isn't going to go smoothly. They aren't going to get everything figured out right away.

I really dont think the governor is the best strategic mind. Goes on the attack but ends up gaining nothing.

Once he saw that little girl was dead he didnt care about the prison anymore. He completely lost it and just wanted to kill everyone in sight.

Yes, they do sometimes save lives, but they also make more trouble than they are worth. If Sophia never ran off into the woods, they never would have found the farm or possibly the prison, and Carl never would have been shot. Hell, they'd probably be living in a nice cabin on a lake in Canada by now, or perhaps some nice tropical island all by themselves. :jimlad: kind of

I think we started to see some of that at the beginning of the season at the prison... but then things went downhill fast when the plauge happened. And now that everyone is desperate and on the run again, I think it will be awhile before we see this kind of organization and society emerging again. I think they will all be focused on survival, shelter and food in the short term.

Guessing they will hit the road and head towards some type of safety. Bet they will either pick up a radio signal or run into another group of travelers heading somewhere.

Yeah, I think was some basic escape plan at the least with a tentative destination or two.

Great episode and excellent mid-season capper. I have a feeling that it will be a great series of episodes when we all re-watch on Netflix. The pacing was a little slower for a couple of episodes there and then the story escalates with tension and ends with big conflict. Loved it.

Hated to lose Hershel - one of my favorite characters. Where will the wisdom for the group come from with the death of the sage of these survivors?

I also think that Carol will emerge in the second half and re-connect with the group, probably with some other survivors as they work their way out of the prison area. Very anxious for February 9th now.

Good question, they still have a ton of stops to make along their journey. At this rate, the show could go on for 12 seasons.

Predictions for the second half of the season? I'd think the person with the rats at the fence and the very large horde of walkers will play be a source of confict. Anyone else?

My favorite moment during the standoff was when Rick talked about the members of Mayberry were leaders and on the council after fighting with them..... and seeing the look on the G'vners face. IMO, the best acting moment in the series. Rick scared him to a new level and knew he was the better man, which needed to die.
