They also got screwed last year (by injury) when their Final Four caliber team took a huge hit when their PG Kristy Wallace had an ACL just before the tourney. I don't hate on Kim just because Bill does.
I didn't know Bill hated on Kim. Thought there was mutual respect there. ??

Unluckily they are pretty darn good. That Megan girl is pretty darn tough.
We held Goose to a low score at Carver and they won on a circus shot at the buzzer. Kristin Scott! We match up well with the Coal Dust and Pyrite clan.

Oh course I don't know for sure. Just based on backhanded "compliments" from him in old pressers (I don't listen to those anymore) and some terse after game looks and less than cordial handshakes. I had better stop now before I rile folks up.

I think there was some distaste in the past but I think they are bonded being grandparents and her son is a Cardinal Baseball player which is second to ISU in Bill's world

Was looking over stats (bored on a Wednesday winter morning) for the Top 16 was noticing the home and away stats for the teams. We are the only team with a losing record on the road (we can make that .500 with a win tonight). We have also played the least roads games of any of the NCAA's 16 (7 for 35%). We have four more road games and some neutrals coming up. Need the wins so we can open the NCAA's at Hilton and as unfair as giving teams home court is it's something we need to keep and take advantage of.

Even though it helps us immensely, this ain't the NIT and nobody should be opening at home. If they really want to expand interest and "parity" they need to stop awarding and helping entrench the top teams. Same is true for volleyball.

Next year they enter the post-Megan era and we enter the post-Bridgett era.

I think Iowa's drop off will be more severe than ISU's as losing Gustafson, but also Stewart is almost 40 points in the paint, and no real obvious post player to step in of significant experience.

I'm curious to see how Iowa will do in the tournament against a really good BIG post. Honestly, if I was an Iowa fan, Creme's bracket would be a nightmare having Texas as a second round game, then, in the quarters could have to face off versus Notre Dame....eek!

Can't argue that. Gustafson is the Hawks all-time leading scoring and rebounder. She's going to end up with like 2400 points and 1300 rebounds. Going to be hard to replace whereas we have a better shot at replacing some of Bridget's across the board stats via committee with five players picking up a little each. The hardest part may be the assists since we will not be returning a starting point guard. That and the other teams would have to be cheating on defense to try and stop Bridgett. Bridgett is like a 2nd point guard or point forward. Some of that comes from opportunities and the attention she gets from the defense but still, she's been a good passer.

To blame dislike for Mulkey on Fennelly is short-sighted to say the least. To defend the University when they systematically covered up a rape epidemic is inexcusable. I'm sorry it might hurt your recruiting, Kim. Frankly, if a male coach had been that callous in the media about it they would likely have been following Briles out the door.

Didn't we beat Miami by like nearly 20 points? It's surprising to me that they're still so highly thought of and back in the rankings.

They tried predetermined sites with 8 teams. They tried predetermined sites with 4 teams. Both failed. You had host teams not making the tournament, paltry attendance, and peculiar seeding arrangements (Uh, this team is a predetermined host, but they're an 11 seed. Oh, well.).

The Big 12 finally learned its lesson -- the hard way -- about attendance (and media coverage) for women's sports. That's why WBB is joining MBB again next year in Kansas City.

Their losses are:
@ ISU
@ Purdue
Central Michigan at home (???)
Clemson at home
@ FSU

21-5 is pretty impressive.
Central Michigan is 27th in RPI, 24th in SOS, so that isn't a bad loss for Miami, either. Also, CMU lost to 2nd ranked Louisville by just 4. They finished last season 30-5 (including a 21 point win over Iowa State) and advanced to the Sweet 16 as an 11 seed. Miami's RPI is 23 with a decent SOS, so they're a good team and has played pretty good competition.

Yeah, my point was that they have a damned good resume. I didn't research CMU, but when your worst loss is Clemson at home you are doing pretty well.

In the past, I don't think the parity was good enough for a #1 or #2 seed (entrenched elite) to lose in the 1st or 2nd round regardless of venue, and it was fun for those low seed teams to play in front of big crowds, but this year, going off Creme's bracketology, a second round matchup of Standford/Drake, or UConn/South Dakota, certainly could be more interesting than some may suppose.

I do disagree with Creme's bracket quite a bit this year. Miss St should be a #1 seed over UConn for sure. Miss St. is clobbering their way through the SEC.

New top-16 reveal coming tomorrow night...probably during the 1st quarter of ISU-KU.

"The second and final top-16 reveal by the committee will take place on Monday, March 4 at halftime of the UConn vs. South Florida game that tips at 7 p.m. that night and will be broadcast on ESPN2."

Betting we are the second or third 4 seed. Not that much has changed since their last 16. We held serve and beat Texas to finally get to a winning record on the road. All pretty good news for us I think.

If seeding holds and we face Texas in the semis, do we have to beat them again to hold top 16? Guess it depends on who in our neighborhood loses, and by how much?
