IDK- got into Booker-like foul territory.

Someone between him, KL, WC is always going to be off on any given game due to the nature of their games. He picked up early fouls it was his night to be off. Refs helped the home team and he was the one who got punished early. But WC decided he didn't want to score one point and KL made sure to do 2 bad things for every 1 good thing.

Might not be fair of course. Ejim I think has done well deferring to those two up until now if they weren't here the team would be built around him I see a team player in him.

Clyburn not scoring is really inexcusable in that game.

So someone between Ejim, KL, and WC will always be off in any given game? Newsflash: They were all three either terrible or rendered ineffective Friday night, not just one.

I'll admit the officiating was poor. It went from calling every ticky-tack foul on ISU early, to a slugfest for most of the game both ways, to ticky tack on Iowa, and then finally to a more reasonable balance. Crazy inconsistency.

But, if WC and KL weren't on this team, it would be built around McGee. I'm not so sure he isn't the best player anyway.

I agree on the officiating. The problem was.....the ticky-tacks on us early basically rendered our inside defense worthless. So when it became a slugfest...we were in trouble. Making White and Woodbury look like Bird and McHale.

And as for the three starters laying an egg. I think had they all stayed in Ames...we may have won this game. Instead of 5 points and 9 turnovers..all the replacements would have to do for a win is get 9 points and 5 turnovers. It wasn't that difficult. Heck....I could probably do that against Iowa myself.

I get that people like seeing McGee's spark off the bench, but the dude is a straight baller. The only thing I can think of as to why he's not getting more minutes is that his level of effort is so high that he can't give the effort consistently over a longer period of time. If that's not true, he should be in the starting lineup.

I'd like to see Lucious on the bench to start a game soon, he needs to figure something out. Same with Booker.

I'd go with:

McGee
Clyburn
Babb
Niang
Ejim

Maybe switch out Niang for Gibson and move Ejim to the 4. I could see that as well. For me, Gibson is probably the first one off the bench for Niang or Ejim based on level of play/fouls.

I think we are fine as well. But, I think Drake is better this year than they were last year. Hopefully it will be a different outcome next Saturday at the Well..

I repeat, we are fine. We actually played better against better teams in Cinn and UNLV, but we will be fine. Think of this as our Drake game from last year -- a big wake up call.

The Drake game was a turning point in our season last year and I feel this will be a turning point in this season.

We have two players that need to get their act together, the rest I am not worried about. Cory Lucious needs to figure out what it means to be a good point guard, and work on turnovers, and keeping the ball moving around so the offense can generate open shots. Booker needs to quit trying to be an offensive star, and concentrate on defensive position and quit fouling by trying to steal the ball. Booker keeps trying to stand out when he needs to instead figure out the role Hoiberg wants him to fill and live with it. I am sure he has been told over and over again. He simply cannot do what he thinks he can do. But he can do what Hoiberg wants him to do. I do not believe we can have a good season from what I have seen without both of these players. So those who want to gripe about them should get a life, I frankly am tired of it. I have trouble even reading these threads anymore. They are so stupid they make me want to vomit. First it was Babb, it has always been Lucious, then it is Ejim is wonderful, now it is Ejim is terrible, it is always McGee is the most wonderful player on the earth, and if we only played him all the time things would be wonderful, sometimes Gibson is in trouble, sometimes he's not, sometimes Clyburn is wonderful, and sometimes he should sit on the bottom of the bench.

You act like kids playing with plastic soldiers, that is Hoiberg's responsibility and he has done very well with that responsibility the two years he has been the coach. I for one am glad he is the coach, and not you. We are fine.

I don't agree with the posters who are complaining about the refs. You'll always have a few calls go against you in the course of a 40-minute game. You don't notice all the breaks your team gets because you're not looking for them. You're only looking for the unfair breaks the other team gets. The charge call on Ejim was the right call.

Oh, and the fouls on Booker...there must be an NCAA-wide conspiracy against Booker to put him in foul trouble in every game. How else can we explain his early fouls?

Who is your primary ball handler in this lineup?

Normally I would complain about the refs, but I could only listen on the radio, and the announcers sounded like they were in the conspiracy to get Booker, because they weren't complaining about any of the calls.

I think it's McGee. It's certainly not Clyburn. Perhaps Babb deserves a shot.

I just don't think Korie Lucious can be an effective point guard with the unbelievable amount of turnovers he has.

He would turn it over more than KL, and would also take him away from what he does best (come off screens and shoot 3's) KL will be our pg all year, simply because there are no other options. Anyone with beef about KL needs to provide a good alternative.

No, anyone with beef about KL should wonder why he's the only viable (I use that term loosely) option.

Kory Lucious keeps getting better every game. He has the ability. I know this won't be popular, but I think he is going to work out alright.

I think you are right. I always pictured his progression as being similar to that of Diante. Unfortunately IMO Diante was further along at this time his senior year than Korie.

Fred is a teacher and understands the game. He also has the ability to keep his players in good spirits. How in the Sam Hill did we get so blessed?

I am still ****** off about it. Refs were bad so Ejim gets a pass but shame on Clyburn and Luscious. I wish Naz Long got to jack up some shots. Babb, Niang, McGee, Gibson were actually all pretty solid.

Iowa are complete scrubs it just sucks that the 2 senior transfers this team will rely on heavily decided not to bring it.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd put your trolling at about a 3. It's bad, and you should feel bad.
