Well, as far as joining the Big Ten, it brings 0 TVs.
Sure but the Big Televen has no other teams that are cardinal and gold. That is why ISU offers a huge upside to the Big Televen.

I wish some of these idiots would do some research before they attempt to use logic. Iowa State may not be that attractive from a TV perspective, but at least they reside in a state of 3m people and could bring those potential viewers to the table.
You are saying that ISU would take over all of Iowa's fans and turn them into potential viewers? That my friend looks like a failed attempt at logic.
Do you think many people in STL watch MU? How about the Buffs in Denver? You are saying that ISU would take over all of Iowa's fans and turn them into potential viewers? That my friend looks like a failed attempt at logic.
So you're saying that Iowans only have the time available to watch one team? Wow, with ISU fans like this I can see why we never move forward.
Nebraska's population has been mentioned often here. Yes, the state of Iowa has a little more than 1 1/2 times the people that NE has. But which figure do marketeers go by, the total number of people or the number of people interested in watching? While they may not have as many people, if 90% of them watch football games and only 30% of Iowa cares to watch ISU, Nebraska has more viewers, despite a smaller population base.
Now, ahem, as to the number of "academic all-americans" that Nebby is so proud of. Where is it easier to get good grades to qualify for such an honor, Cal Tech, or uofnebraska? (this mentioned to equalize the tv thing)
No. I'm saying fans on both fanbases can be so stubborn as to not want to watch the other team. ISU hasnt cannot regularly pack Jack Trice, but you think they could bring in 3million fans? While Iowa packs Kinnick regularly, I'm pretty positive the other 2,920,000 people in Iowa arent ALL watching their game. It's not logical.
This is why 16 member conferences are going to be volatile.
