I'm currently reading "A War To Be Won" (started on the book when my Kindle's battery drained in the middle of the first book of Winston Churchill's Second World War, and I haven't been able to put it down).

Nice overview of WWII, and very readable and interesting in presentation.

Isn't 1984 required reading in most every high school, still? If not, it should be. Great book. I remember it scared the **** out of me. Animal Farm is another good one by George Orwell.

Oh Animal Farm. I had a text copy of it on my TI-89 in high school and probably read it at least 50 times while not paying attention in class.

My favorite book of all time is "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas. If you read this make sure to buy the unabridged version. Yes it is well over 1200 pages, but it won't seem like it at all once you start reading. The way that Edmund Dantes achieves his revenge over several years is simply epic.

I also recommend The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I just finished reading "Under The Dome" by King, and loved that as well.

A book that is not such a light read is "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon. It's not an easy book to read by any means, but if you can get past that it is a truly fascinating read.

If you liked hunger games, have you read the Dark Materials Collection? First book was the Golden Compass (movie sucked), 2nd book is the Subtle Knife and was awesome. One of the top 3 book series ive ever read.

Those Hyperion books were amazing. I recommend those. I may go ahead and read them again myself.

That would be my recommendation for Sci-Fi as well.

For Fantasy, Game of Thrones, then the rest of that series.

For true stories... anything by John Krakauer. Into the Wild, Into Thin Air, etc.

If you're into high adventure/survival with history mixed in like I am you can't go wrong with Jon Krakauer. Rolling Clones suggested a great one on Pat Tillman and I'd also suggest Krakauer's "Into Thin Air" and "Into the Wild". Krakauer was also one of the world's greatest mountainclimbers.

One of King's easiest reads, Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption was one of 4 stories found in Different Seasons. The other 3 are Apt Pupil(The movie did no service to this sick tale), Stand By Me, and The Breathing Method. The Breathing Method is predictable, yet strange enough to enjoy.
