While I agree that a comparison between a PF penalty and rape are insane...

I do not want guys out there that are "head hunting" - as it's illegal to do so. What I do want is guys that are flying around the football - making big, legal hits in between the whistles.

I think that we should make a rule right now that anyone who commits a personal foul on our football team is kicked off the team. And if Chizik blows up and goes ballistic on the refs and gets a flag that he should be fired. Likewise for the basketball team. If any member gets a Technical for committing a flagrant foul, he should be kicked off the team. If GMAC gets a technical during the season for yelling at the refs then he should get fired. They embarrass me when they do that. Likewise, if your spouse gets mad at you in public even once and yells at you, you should immediately call a lawyer and get a divorce. That type of behavior is embarrassing. NO ONE is entitled to make a mistake. NO ONE is entitled to let their emotions get the better of them. We need to get people representing this University like Tim Floyd and Larry Eustachy. People that could control their emotions.:wink::wink:

It wasn't pretty. But I have seen more malicious hits by a defensive player when the opposing player was out of bounds. And I have seen worse hits on opposing QB's after they have thrown a pass when they were just standing there. They were both moving and LJ got caught up in the play it looked like to me. I think the 1-game suspension is about right. Plus extra conditioning. It wasn't as flagrant to me as some of you made it sound.

Like I've been saying....he is a good representative of ISU off the field and he is one of my favorites on the field.

He'll get it under control....give him a chance. He could have gone to lots of schools and chose ISU.

Maybe it was just another good example of the Mountain Sports Channel's "quality" camera work, but in this video it almost looked like he was pushed into him from behind by the receiver...although he did throw his hands out to knock the QB down...anybody else see that?

I didn't see it as a "dirty" hit, but it was definitely a stupid move. It probably wouldn't have been quite as controversial if he hadn't already committed a personal foul earlier in the same drive.

If he hadn't been ejected, I suspect Chizik would have benched him for the rest of the game anyway, and I think it would have been justified. Hopefully he (and the rest of the team) learn from this and start to play smarter. I have no problem with aggressiveness, but you have to be smart too.

No. It's difficult to tell in that clip because of the poor resolution (not The Mtn's camera work), but 80 is just throwing his hands in the air to celebrate the touchdown.

Ahh, I wondered about that...I didn't have it tivo-ed and was busy throwing my hat in disgust and pouring another drink after he scored the td in real-time so that was the only replay I've seen...

I know some coaches who use the philosophy that if a player gets a dumb personal foul, or does something that otherwise warrants a severe verbal lashing from a coach, that player sits down for the rest of the series, or the rest of the quarter. That gives the player time to let the emotions settle, and regain some composure. That might have been a good thing to do with LJ after the first PF, instead of sending him back in there still emotionally jacked up.

Yep, agree wholeheartedly. I love the guy. Sorry. Needs to play hard, not dirty, but sometimes that is a thin line. The first PF the guy was all up in his grill, starting stuff. Not gonna blame him for that one at all.

Second one: Yeah, real dirty. Not a defense of him, but it looked to me like he was getting held the whole play. Once he did get free, he took his shot. Big time PF, and it was called and he paid the price.

Going forward, I really like that we have a defensive player that plays angry. Think Dodgeball the movie. I have long said that anger is a gift. You just gotta learn to harness it.

This isn't intramurals folks, just ask Hawkins at CU.

Hockey is a whole different game. Those sorts of penalties are expected, and there's even a "penalty box" that guys go sit in to punish them.

It would be one thing if this was an isolated incident, but this is two games in a row. If he gets one in 3 weeks at Baylor (if he plays), I say he sits out the rest of the year at a minimum.

First time I have seen the hit in the video link and I have to say it is not near as bad as some of you think it was. Being kicked off the team is total lunacy.

It is football by the way and I didn't see any pink pom poms on anyone. Lame brain move on his part maybe and a good call on the ref's part, but not booted from the team worthy.

By "sufficiently dirty" I presume you're saying that the player rears back his fist and pops someone in the mouth, or deliberately slams someone into a wall, resulting in hospitalization, broken bones, lost teeth, broken nose--see "Tomjanovich". None of which comes remotely close to what LJ did.

Whether the hit on Moeaki even deserved a flag is, at best, arguable. Clearly.

I'll say it again. It's Chizik's job to determine both what has has happened and what will happen, not ours. And since we don't have all of the information, there's absolutely no reason to be making judgements involving a young man's future. :skeptical:
