What game do you want most this year and why?

The game i want to win most this year is Oklahoma for obvious reasons but a close 2nd is Texas. I think we have a legit shot at beating Texas again so i guess that's my most wanted victory.

UNI simply because we should never have to compare ourselves to them yet have lost too many times through the year. Would also be a great start to the regime by showing a new and different Cyclone team than years past.

They should have lost to ISU (the last two years) and ISU was awful?

I watched them quite a bit. If that QB is good, a big if, they could be ok. I don't see their ceiling being any higher than 6th. Snyder's done it before but I wouldn't hold my breath.

FIFY. KSU defense will be quite good this year, but I will be disappointed if we lose at home to them. They were not good last year and Rhoads pee'd it away.

Why is everyone assuming they'll be bad? They lost their qb before the season even started last year...if he's any good they could be pretty decent/good. I never count Bill Snyder out, I don't know why others are so willing. Wishful thinking?

I agree. From what I've seen, I'm thinking their defense will probably be one of the best in the conference. I expect Snyder will find a way to make their offense respectable.

I should be flattered at all the K-State banter here. The last 8 years average score between our squads, 32-23.

K-State is not going to be bad, like last year, although the irony of ISU fans saying that is not lost on me. The Cats rank second only to OU in first team preseason all-conference selections this year, with 4 of those 5 on defense.

And Ertz is going to be a stud from what we're hearing down here. How the hell he gets out of Iowa with two D1 schools amazes me. Maybe it was his knees.

“He approaches the game like a good quarterback should,” Dante Barnett said. “I remember the first time he got on some players for joking around during seven-on-seven. Everyone paused and was like, “Whoa.” But he gained a lot of respect for that. He can be friendly and jokey, but when he means business, he means business ... (and) he is probably one of the best athletes I have ever seen at quarterback,” Barnett, K-State’s top defensive back, said. “You get to chasing him when you think you have a tackle, but he will make you miss and then turn on the afterburners.”

In case you wonder, I least want to lose to the rival, Ku. I most want to beat OU, again in Norman, making it three straight down there. Next would be Stanford in Palo Alto, since I'll be in the stands, and it would get the season off to a splendid EMAW start.

Refer back to this thread the next time someone mentions dropping the Iowa game or conference realignment talks.

Literally no one gives a **** about West Virginia or the majority of the SWC teams. Cyclone fans want to beat Big 8 rivals and Iowa. That's what makes college football great: tradition.

I agree with K-State and OU and Iowa, but I'll cast a vote for Texas, because I live here and I take immense satisfaction in Longhorn tears. They taste even sweeter when squeezed from a cyclone.

I'm not writing a Snyder coached team off by any means, and I get that a win is a win no matter what. But that stat you're throwing out is a tad misleading. The 41-7 drubbing in 2013 aside, it's been a single score margin of victory every other year since the Cyclones last won in '07. Even a diehard KSU fan like yourself would recognize that last year wasn't so much a win as it was an escape. I hope this is the year the Cyclones finally get over the hump,

K-State, some day we should beat the wizard. Iowa, then OU. OU would be neat just because it's been so long since we've beat them. That night game back in the 80's is still clear as a bell in my mind. Defeat from the jaws of victory one more time. SMH.

1. K-State. The last two games were ours for the taking, and we couldn't get it done. I'd really like to see CMC get this monkey off our back.

2. OU. No explanation needed.

3. Iowa. Just to give them an early loss and prevent the season long circle-jerk the local media put on for us last year.

4. Texas. Would love to see CMC keep this series as competitive as it has been the past few years.

Pretty much echoing the same tune:

1. OU because they're the blue blood (UT is too, but they've been underperforming as of late - see their goose egg against ISU last year)

2. KSU because they've gotten more than their share of breaks in the last decade against ISU.

3. Iowa because their fans are the worst and it's kind of fun wearing ISU gear the week after the game here in Eastern Iowa and watching them see it - and have to relive the 'humiliation' of losing to their 'little brother.'

Vince Young ain't walkin' through that door.
