I like Kenny, but he's definitely taken on a "Debbie Downer" role about everything it seems.

Conference realignment was a great example. He wasn't rooting for ISU's demise, but it was like he was 100% convinced we were MAC bound, even though if you were well read on the subject, you knew that horrifying outcome was very unlikely.

I stopped listening to Tirrell after his 5 minute rant on how Ames High got foul calls every time the other team breathed on Harrison and that they really weren't the real deal and if there were fair refs in high school basketball Ames wouldn't even make the state championship.

You can't say an Iowa high school team is getting lucky by the refs calls when 2 starters go D-1, 2 players go JUCO, and 1 player goes and plays D-1 baseball and had offers to play football for Stanford.

Any school across the state of Iowa would be the real deal if they had that talent. It had nothing to do with refs.

And that's when I stopped listening to good ol' Marty.

I swear on Tuesday I heard and advertisement on 1700 with Marty saying a "new" Marty and Miller show was going to start up with the "Miller" being a former UCLA linebacker who also played in the pros for the Redskins (and others who I can't remember).

He said something like "The new Marty and Miller, part of the Marty and McDermott show."

Also, I much prefer Ken Miller over the Jim Brinson guy KXNO has partnered up with him. That guy is awful. He always finds a way to make every topic about himself. He's the smartest guy in radio. Just ask him.

Me too. I really enjoyed the show when it was just Miller after Matty P quit and before Brinson started. Miller is a bit of a downer, but he isn't afraid to not toe the company line when it comes to Iowa.

Brinson is awful.

This would be great if after Marty's 20 minute long rant about "Fatso and Fruit Loops" he ends up being the one off the air locally and Fatso and Fruit Loops continue their show on 1460.

I wanted to like Brinson..I really did...in the end I would rather listen to Fran Drescher gargle razor blades while discussing the MVC with Cotlar.

I would generally agree with this, and I'd still rather listen to him than Perrault. Yet I listened to Perrault more.

I guess it pays to **** people off.

I stopped listening to KXNO during that dbag's tenure. I came back when he left. Now I only listen when they have Kaplan or CW on. When Brinson talks I have a stick to bite down on just like a Civil War amputation.

And there's the rub. Matty P was the biggest db blowhard we've had in the DM market, but at least he took a hard line. Brinson is just lost in this market. So lost that he's entirely irrelevant when it comes to breaking down any issue that locals actually care about.

KXNO had a chance to get it right by hiring a local guy who could break something down without being a db. Just find someone with a brain and a spine. This is why Miller and Deace are infinitely more enjoyable than anyone in the market. It's not even close, in my opinion.

I can understand if 1700 dropped him, but I would have thought he'd still be doing his syndicated show. I guess I assumed that he had more stations that 1700 signed up, but maybe not.
