Not to be an A-hole....because that is literally how it's going to sound....but our conference is most likely not going to be imploding within the next month....aka funds are not in danger of just vanishing....and it's being done in 2 or 3 phases. First phase is just indoor practice field.
Well the stability of my income, is a tad bit more stable than the guaranteed income from a conference that was one fit from Texas or Ok from going off the deep end....but for real, ISU better end up in a BCS conference....
And for the record I realize KSU or KU did the same thing....but still....Missouri took the right approach and waited for their capital campaign.
I don't care if ISU get thrown into the CIML come next fall. I'll be there supporting my Cyclones. I'm an Iowa State man. All this non-sense about losing fans is ********. If we win the fans will not only stay but the base will grow. Winning is more important than anything.
Woohoo! ISU goes 9-3 or 10-2 in a crappy conference and goes to some POS Bowl game. ISU will lose out on tons of recruits and almost all of the instate kids we have gotten would be going elsewhere to U of I if they were recruited.
There will be a huge drop off in # of fans going into the game also probably a drop off with the Gridiron club.
Don't get me wrong I'm a huge cyclone fan and have been going to the games cheering my *** off for the past 5 years but I will not be renewing season tickets if were in the MAC or C-USA. Just won't see me dropping money to see weak opponents after getting used to seeing Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas and so on walk into JTS
You mean, you would NEVER lose your job??
WOW, I just read this article....Big 12 schools face economic impact of shuffling - ESPN
You guys took out 40 million in bonds?!? WTF....as a tax payer....jeeeeeesus. :face-palm:
I would get Iowa season tix and cheer against them every week in Kinnick. The arrogance of them finding this to be comedic has just pushed me over the edge.
How much will that affect ISU, State of Iowa and the city of Ames? I think the economic ramifications could be great to all parties.
I will take this down to the scale of the average person.
You have been a very good business owner for about 8 years. The 9th year roles around and you just signed a HUGE contract with another company that will GUARANTEE you X amount of money over the next 10 or so years. All of the business owners, including yourself, got big time raises that were guaranteed in a contractual agreement.
You get happy and go out and buy a new car, because you've been driving around a POS car for 20 years. You also make a couple of household improvements that needed to be done. (new deck, new couch, and new flat screen tv) You do these things in the comfort knowing that your monthly paychecks will be X times bigger and guaranteed for the next 10 years.
Now, all of a sudden, the contract you just signed with that company is breached and that money is no longer guaranteed. You may even end up losing your entire job.
That is possibly happening to ISU on a much larger scale.
Why do you think Baylor, ISU and a couple other schools have not waived their rights to Sue A&M and the SEC? A lot of money was guaranteed and inked in writing, and now it might not be there.
