Royce was a transfer. Vaughn and Diallo we did not get. I suppose we could have been outbid, but I'd be more concerned if we got them than I am since we didn't (especially with the odd turn in the Vaughn recruitment).

Absolutely agree with everything here, and I mentioned something similar in the other thread. The fact we didn’t get Vaughn or Diallo makes it look like we refused to play the game. Whether or not that is true, I don’t know. What I do know is that Vaughn’s recruitment was shady at best, and Diallo was basically the straw that broke the camel’s back when it came to Hoiberg. Again...did we refuse to play the game, or were we willing participants in a game we “lost”? Either way, MA was in the middle of each of those situations, which may be why some are talking about him the way they are.

And just playing an imaginary scenario out, would Hoiberg have been as visibly disgusted with recruiting if he was merely losing bidding wars? Logic would say no, that wouldn't make sense.

“This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches,” one of Thamel’s sources said. “When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won’t be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.

Pick 7(?) of these teams that should be sweating?

This is the correct answer.

I have zero inside knowledge, but I always got the feeling Abdelmassih was living in the grey area.

You could be right (though his batting percentage was woeful if that was the game he was playing). I am not sure that they (FBI) are going back that far to find plenty of punishable evidence.

Honestly, we've had one of the best recruiting classes that I can remember over a period when wiretapping and all sorts of investigation was being trained on recruiting. I think (and hope like heck) this staff is by the book.

My completely uneducated guess is the last 36 months is more where the hard evidence and eventual exposure/punishment is going to come from.

All schools are in the same recruitment boat. I'm not going to be throwing people or wishing people out until I know we are safe. The whole business is shady.

I’m surprised Rick Stansbury and Western Kentucky hasn’t been mentioned. Obviously he didn’t end up playing for them, but the Mitchell Robinson situation was insanely sketchy. Add that to the other recruits he landed that would never normally go to WKU.

Think I agree with your entire list except Tennessee. From a quick look Tennessee hasn't been getting many high level players recently. Curious as to why you put Tennessee on there?

I also think there are 4 can't miss schools on that list that if what the source quoted in that article was correct will surely be implicated (Auburn, Kansas, Arizona, & UNC). After that it gets tougher imo.

LOL. Vols were the last one I picked. Six would have been a better number for me. I think Barnes is straight. But that school has a long history. Bruce Pearl was the worst. I have personal knowledge on that one. Direct personal knowledge.

Fair. Auburn was an easy #1 on the list so I agree with you on Bruce Pearl lol.

sigh....you people realize we are going to be guilty as well right? We took two rapist off the hands of Izzo and MSU, think floating an AAU coach a few bucks for a high value player isn't out of the realm of possibility.
I'm not that concerned with the transfers.
Fred was in the transfer game long before the big boys were willing to accept transfers. Most of the time, ISU was the only P5 school willing to take them. Royce had Kentucky after him but I don't remember us battling any other schools for transfers back then.

I'd be more concerned with Vaughn and Diallo. Maybe a coach was recorded saying something. Like someone said above, that maybe far enough back.
