Short term goals:
1. Win the conference championship game either this year or next. We should be even better next year.

2. Lock up coach Campbell to a long term contract, so we can end this "where is he going" craziness.

3. Start selling beer in the stands, if they can do it at WV, Texas and others, ISU can join the club.

Long Term goals:

1. Improve both instate and out of state overall recruiting. We make ISU the instate school that athletes want to attend and not EIU. Move up the recruiting rankings from the 40's to the top 25 on a yearly basis.

2. Grow the size of the fan base and the donor base, and basically sell out every game. You want to see ISU, then purchase season tickets.

3. Go on a 8 out of 10 year run beating EIU, included a couple of complete blowouts. Like we did vs WV yesterday.

4. Replace the press box on the West side of the stadium with one that covers the entire West side of the stands. With plenty of corporate boxes to get that corporate money flowing in.

5. Bowl the Northside of the stadium, with more boxes and raising stadium seating to 75,000.

The Cyclone Renaissance has begun. We have exorcised the demons (and the hoks) to the depths of hell and the future belongs to us. Next September we will put the last nail in the coffin when we crush the hoks at Jack Trice. The new construction projects, along with better recruits is going to take us to new heights of success we could only dream about in the past.

If you're not improving you're regressing.

Iowa states has finished with the best record in the big 12, yes. But theres really only one logical step beyond that: make the big stage and get into a playoff.

That will require sustaining the big 12 success while eliminating the slow starts we have seen in the non-conference.

More immediate next step: getting campbell an extension within the next few weeks. I'm hoping we see it before the championship game so we don't have to hear moron commentators talk about him "surely leaving" during what could be our best moment in program history.

The conference title/NY6/playoffs goals would take care of this, but I want to start and finish next season in the top 10 (hopefully it becomes common after that, too) ... and have a lengthy weekly streak of top 25 AP and playoff ranking.

Next step is parlaying this success and national attention into a top 25 recruiting class. The catch 22, of course, is that the more success we have, the louder the noise about Campbell leaving, the more difficult it is to convince kids he's not going anywhere.

Anyways, go get a Top 25 recruiting class for 2022.
This is something that’s been on my Campbell checklist for a while. I just don’t understand how Nebraska can do this with crappy results and worse coaches year in year out. Hopefully this year gets recruits to take notice. The success of Lazard and Montgomery should help a bit too.

I would love to see this.

It may take more continued success on the field to see it happen. Going by 247's composite our recruits would need to average a score of about .8800 to be in the top 25 recruiting class. Last two years we've averaged just over .8500. To my knowledge this team only has 5 guys that scored higher than .8800 in composite score: Sean Foster, Joseph Scates, Jirehl Brock, Breece Hall, and Hunter Dekkers.

Campbell has proven he can win without top 25 recruiting classes. My recruiting goal would be to consistently be in the top 3-4 classes of the Big 12. I think an average recruit of .8650 in composite would do it. This isn't out of the range of possibilities.

Campbell keeps his 5 Star Culture going and recruiting rankings won't matter.

Top 25 recruiting classes, then eventually top 10. We already own the state for elite recruits but we need some top 100 type talent nationally. Sell the appeal of Ames.

Multiple B12 titles or a title game 3 or 4 out of every 5 years type run Build the ISU brand.

Make the CFP a couple times in the next few years the get to the NCG.

Lock up MC to ten year deal.

Expand stadium to 80k+.

That is the vision.

What Campbell has achieved since arriving at ISU is nothing short of miraculous. After watching ISU FB for 40+ years, it finally feels like we have something in place that can be maintained so long as we can keep staff continuity and they don't get complacent with their goals.

My question is, what is the next "hump" that ISU FB and this staff can leap over? Obvious near term answer is winning the "recognized" B12 championship in a couple weeks, but after that, I think it's imperative we get to the point where we can consistently beat P5 schools from the other conferences. To date, Campbell is 0-6 in attempts (WSU, ND, 4 losses to Iowa). Would be great to right that ship this year in our bowl game wherever we land.

Thoughts?
I think ISU will likely draw a G5 team in their bowl game. Specifically BYU or Cincinnati.

Beating Iowa has never meant that we have arrived. In fact, in all but one year since '97 (?), We were the better team when we beat them. Earlier post said "playing for a CCG birth in November....." I agree.

The main reason the beat Iowa - to shut up the majority of their fan base which are racist, white #####.

This year:
  • Win the CCG.
  • Win a New Years 6 Bowl Game (preferably against a P5 opponent).
Next year:
  • Start the season fast.
  • Beat Iowa.
  • Contend to repeat in the Big12 Champion.
Going forward:
  • Raise the “floor” of the program to 8 or 9 wins.
  • Regularly contend for the Big 12 title. Maybe not every year, but every couple years.
  • Win our Bowl games.
It used to be the stars would have to align for Iowa State to grab 6 wins and make a bowl game. Campbell has the program in a spot where that’s the expectation, year in and year out, even in years where all the bounces seem to go against us (2019).

With what we have coming back next year, we should be solidly in the hunt to be back in the championship game. Making the CFP is still a long shot for anyone who isn’t Ohio St, Alabama or Clemson.

I normally disagree with everything you say, but this is a good list!

Regarding the extension, Campbell has been pretty clear that he doesn't like to talk about these things until the regular season is over. I'm not sure if we consider the championship game regular season or not though ;)

Natty
Top 25 Recruiting class
Preseason top 10 ranking
Heisman Winner
1st Round pick

Good call on 1st round pick. I hate when that stat pops up every April. Who on the roster is our best chance? I'm not really an NFL Draft guy. McDonald? Might be a little undersized, but he's borderline unstoppable right now.

My biggest worry is the purse size of our fan base. We can support football but I fear Hilton and basketball will be left behind
Basketball is fun and all, but football earns the revenue. If the Big 12 is on the verge of coming apart again in the near future, our basketball program isn’t going to save. KU is one of the few schools where the basketball program alone could keep them in a P5 conference.

A strong football program will keep us in a top tier conference along with fan engagement, which in turn keeps our basketball program in the top tier.

I’ll take it in small bites...
1. beat Iowa...then beat them consistently
2. win bowl games
3. become a regular in the big 12 championship game
4. make me bored with 8-9 win seasons
5. consistent amazing recruiting classes

I haven't read the whole thread but stop losing games we should win like LA this year and K-STATE last year. This would include games like Iowa.
