What if we play Coastal Carolina in a NY6 bowl? Will that matter if we win or not because your troll is beating a ranked Memphis team in a bowl game is meaningless

Road game against ranked Memphis. It was an impressive win. We also got totally screwed on officiating vs WSU in that bowl or it would have been a win.

The amount of butt hurt Iowa fans have about the lack of attention to their underserved ranking is delicious.

They are so sour that they get another week of ISU love in the state of Iowa and national college football media. They can't stand when people have nice things to say about ISU, and they definitely can't accept that ISU fans are loud and proud right now. F em.

Get as big an extension as possible done and announced before the CCG. The rest will take care of itself. Searching ISU football the last couple weeks mostly results in stories about
- where Campbell will go next
- how losing to ISU likely cost Herman his job

As great as the publicity is, it’s tough to capitalize when the stories are all framed as how this year has made MC a candidate for better jobs.

I think the next steps are to "fill in the margins" such as building depth of talent, establishing a mental foundation that fuels confidence that can't be shaken by an interception on a game-ending play (otherwise known as tradition), flesh out development and recruiting plans for the coaches, and probably several more areas that need to be shored up to build a consistently high-performing football program. I think the progress the team has ade is real, but fragile; one or two more Co-vid incidents or an injury to one of our key players could have set us back substantially.

Matt Campbell has done well but I'm sure he would agree that time-wise we're quite a ways away from where we need to be. I'm a disciple of the 80/20 Rule, that is 80% of the progress is achieved in the first 20% of time. Therefore, the final 20% necessary to finish the project properly will take four times as long. You don't see much but if you don't do it, the whole thing can fall apart.

I don't see this as a negative or downer. I think that is what I hear Matt Campbell say which would mean that he wants to be in Ames until it's done properly. In my reckoning, that could be up to 15 years.

I'm 76, let's hope I don't see Matt leave before he's done it right.

Why do people obsess over Iowa? They are not in our conference.

I do agree their priority should be dropped on that list.

But we've now accomplished things to the level that if we want to take a 'next step' that will require winning our nonconference games as well as our conference games. So since Iowa is always on our schedule, either we need to start beating iowa or we need to dump them off the schedule. I'm fine with either, but I think we all know due to the money involved and the amount casual fans and media care about that game, it probably isnt going anywhere.

It's a great achievement of course and I'd take it in a heartbeat. Any NY6 win is an accomplishment, but if the B12 wants to quiet its critics, its top teams need to win on the regular against other P5 competition (any P5 will do).
How do you think Iowa will fare in the Duke Mayo Bowl or music city bowl? Those are two the whole nation will be tuned into!!!

Why do people obsess over Iowa? They are not in our conference.

A couple of reasons:

1. so we can improve instate recruiting. I know we have people that says, they want the best kids, no matter the state, which is true, but when we have 4 stars players here in the state, it would be nice to see them at ISU, instead of EIU.

2. As the program improves, then money that is now going to EIU from corporations, start flowing into the pockets of ISU.

3. To shut the EIU fans up, and stop their complete BS about ISU and the Big 12.

Bump Matt up to the $5+ million range. Throw some more in for the staff.
I'll be glad to donate some dough to the cause.

The REAL next step question

What do we do with our nutcups?

On one hand I want to shelve it.

On the other hand I feel like I need to double it up.
