If you think Walmarts bad, Hobby Lobby has their fake Christmas trees up in late August.

I'll cut Hobby Lobby some slack (though it threw me off the first time I saw it so early)

The ONLY reason I'll cut them some slack is because they are a craft store, and people who do arts and crafts stuff usually want to work on that prior to the holiday season so they are ready with their crafts for the appropriate season.

That is the ONLY market that is appropriate to have such a long lead in to a holiday.

There is no excuse for Christmas lights to be hitting store shelves a week before Halloween :skeptical:

(or Thanksgiving for that matter - I meant I saw lights on store shelves a week before Halloween, not that it is ok for them to be up after Halloween)

According to my mother.

Music ... August
Decorations - After halloween.

Mom is a Christmas nut! Of course she's doing her baking, cookies and such way early then freezing. So I suppose it makes certain sense.

Me? I'm with the post Thanksgiving crowd. But then again, I actually like Thanksgiving more that Christmas. A weekend pretty much dedicated to food and football - maybe God gave us his only son on Christmas, but he sure was looking out for the fellas at the end of November!

I don't want to see anything Christmas related until after Thanksgiving. So I suppose it would be "OK" to play Christmas music then... but I still think it should be later than that so I voted Dec. 15th.

I teach in an elementary school and the music room is right next to mine. They have been singing X-mas music since early October. DRIVES ME NUTS, and I enjoy X-mas music AFTER THANKSGIVING.

I used to be of the opinion that all things Christmas start Thanksgiving night. Lately with the "urban sprawl" of Christmas I get caught up in the excitement and start a tad early...like this year. My lights are up on the house and the tree is in the window! We aren't 100% decorated but hopefully that happens this weekend. I like to be up and running for Thanksgiving.

I believe 104.5 here in Omaha starts its Christmas music this Monday. No problems here with me!

Are you talking about stores and radio stations playing the music? Then for me it is after Thanksgiving.

I grew up singing Christmas Carols all of the time, they cheer me up. I would even play Christmas music at home all year if I was in the mood. Then thing that gets me though is that there are some really really bad carol versions. It seems like those bad versions end up repeating the most in the stores and on the radio. (Granted, I am pretty traditionalist about Christmas music too)

I'm that guy. Rule in my house is Christmas music starts when the last regular season high school game is done.
I don't listen to new stuff. I'm a Rat Pack guy. Gene Autry, Bing Crosby, even some Beach Boys as well. Love Christmas. Love the time leading up to it.
Sounds like you can count me in the minority of enjoying hanging out with extended family who we only see once a year. There's always a family football game and last year I got knocked out early with a cracked rib.
Oh, and our tree went up Tuesday night.

I would say Dec 1st but since that wasn't an option I chose the day after Thanksgiving.

The consumer aspect of Christmas died to me once I started getting older. It stopped being about getting presents from Santa, and instead trying to float an acceptable budget for gift purchases.

I'll always love the religious songs tied to Christmas (and I usually don't hear those until the month of at church.) I grew up in a church that put a lot of emphasis on the fanfare of Christmas. Granted, I grew up both loving the presents and the religious celebration, but the religious celebration has yet to become stale, if ever.

I started tonight and I'm not ashamed, and I'm not talking about lame music. I listen to music that glorifies the reason for Christmas.

Third Day's Christmas album is the bomb.
