I wouldn't cheer for them directly but I can give them credit when it's due. I don't live in a place where I'm going to be surrounded by/see comments from belligerent hawkeye fans so that helps.

When I was younger, I spent way too much time and energy arguing about/hating Iowa, and I realized that's a really stupid approach, and when I see ISU fans going out of their way to make it happen, it only fuels their fans and the 'super bowl/only care about one game' narrative.

This is spot on and exactly how I am now. Takes 75% of the negative emotion away but you can still dial it up when needed. You can watch their games with your hawk fan friends unprovoked with a twinkle in your eye when they lose tragically.

UMMMM yes the amount of IOWA fans rooting for the clones to the final four would be much greater than half if u guys make a deep run. ESPECIALLY if your playing the likes of Kentucky (well any SEC school), duke, 'Cuse, Louisville, Kansas, etc.....

I know you want to believe all hawkeye fans have the same mentality as you, well they dont. I would much much rather see an iowa born kid get to the big stage and have a big game on a home grown team than some ghetto b@$+urd from south or east coast. Past the iowa-iowa st game I would rather iowa st do well in the tourny then flop.

On my first day of work my new boss (Iowa fan) saw me pinning up a copy of ISU's schedule on my desk and he said he wouldnt mind if the campus burned to the ground. I thought he was joking so I laughed. He did not smile or laugh. He was stone-faced. It was a great first impression.

I admit that I'm a bit torn. I want to hate the Hawkeyes at all costs, but is there a point when I should actually cheer for them? For instance, the Huskers will be insufferable if they win. And who wouldn't like to see the Buckeyes crushed? Or take down a top SEC team?

At some point, as much as I hate to admit it, I think it is good for the whole state for the Hawkeyes to do well (and worse for the state if they have a high profile choke like us in BB last year). I'm just not sure what that point is. I don't think I can cheer for them unless they do make it to the playoff. At that point, a win is good for the state, even if it makes Hawk fans even more insufferable. But who can handle them being even more insufferable? I may give myself a ban for even considering it.

Is is there a point when any of you will cheer for the Hawkeyes?

Never!!!! Ever! Never!!

It's morons like that that make this rivalry no fun.

I know. I dont mind if you want to say the football team stinks, or rib ISU fans for their basketball team losing a game it shouldnt have. But I went to school there, met my wife there, got an education there, made a lot of memories there. So don't tell me ISU is a ***** school and you'd like to see my alma mater burnt to the ground, especially if you didnt even go to Iowa (he didnt).

Way up there
Typically I would always cheer for the Hawks against Nebraska, Huskers are the worst, Hawkeye fans are trying their best to raise their arrogance and d-baggery to Husker levels but they aren't quite there. I'm afraid beating the Huskers this year may just put them over the top so I'll (for the first time ever) root for the Huskers to knock them off.

Rose-Michigan
Peach-Ohio State
Capital One-Iowa

It's happening.

That could happen but he was saying he would cheer for Iowa to win the championship game to knock the Big Ten out of the playoffs and cost them a lot of money. I'm saying it wouldn't because regardless if Iowa plays Michigan, Ohio St or Michigan St, 2 teams are getting into the New Year's Six Bowls:

Iowa beats Michigan:
Rose: Iowa
Fiesta/Peach: Ohio St

Iowa beats Michigan St:
Rose: Iowa
Fiesta/Peach: Ohio St and possibly MSU putting 3 teams in New Year's Six bowls

Iowa beats Ohio St:
Rose: Iowa
Fiesta/Peach: Ohio St

If I he to decide between my left testicle being cutoff and Iowa winning a national championship, it would be a hard choice for me.

Nope. I can respect what they are going but as each win goes by their fans are becoming more and more annoying. Yes we know your team is better than ISU's no reason to bring it up. No reason to rip on me for going to ISU games, I realize ISU isn't very good, but I do enjoy going to games. Yes I know it is cheaper to go to ISU games, but maybe if your school lowered the ticket prices more of your fans would show up for games.

In short the teams deserves this fun ride. Their fans don't.

Not exactly sure.
I don't mind their teams, it's their fans that are more annoying than anything. Love to talk smack, but if you even open your mouth they cry and run away. My wife grew up with the taverns, after meeting both sides she can't stand the hawk crowd, and didn't push her at all. We didn't have season tickets to anything until she couldn't stand the Hawks anymore.

As as an old wiseman told me, it's better to have a daughter in a whorehouse than a hawk for a sister.

Not exactly sure.
And for those still thinking about doing it. Post a picture of Bielema on your fridge, because that who you are cheering for.

I was with a bunch of Iowa fans at a bar after they beat Wisconsin (still got my one TV to watch the ISU-KU showdown) and after their national championship-like celebration, I attempted to start a chant of 'We're De-CENT! We're De-CENT!' since it was basically just two decent teams playing to win late.

It didn't go over very well but I enjoyed myself plenty.

I guess I shoulda included trailer trash, honkey, and whatever other acronym we can find but generally just talking about the " not a role model" type of individuals. That Marshall Henderson from ole miss a few yrs back is good example of what Im talking about. Id rather see hard working, level headed kids like Niang do better then Hernderson. But I guess if you guys want to disagree then thats OK its your opinion.

But Niang is from the East Coast...

This is where I'm at as well.

Also, I'm ok with them winning as long as they are worse than us. I've had to watch hawkeye basketball games the past few years since my roommate was a fan. I could sit and watch peacefully knowing we trashed them.

Anytime they beat us I can't stand to watch them win a game. Ever.
