Hathcock, will travel
1. Dmitri Stanley is the 3rd starting receiver. Good - he has game breaking ability and put up good yards at Colorado in a garbage offense. Excited to see what he can do.
2. Greg Gaines not in the depth chart for the first game. That is weird to say the least.
3. Remsburg is a starter at RT which shows how seriously Campbell takes these.
4. MALIK VERDON is a starting safety. This seems very important and the staff must really like his potential.
5. Blake Peterson won the other starting DE job, that is what I expected and hope he has a phenomenal year. So many opportunities for 1 on 1's at that spot and sack opportunities.

Kudos on saying that Campbell doesn’t take depth charts seriously…then proceeding to take this one way too seriously.

FWIW, CMC said Jake was on there because he improved to “questionable” this week.

“FWIW” being the key phrase.

And your #5…I think we can all be about 95% sure that Jon Heacock isn’t actually going to use much of the four man front this depth chart is formatted in. I expect the LDE to be some combination of Peterson against the pass and Singleton (and Onyedim) setting the edge against the run.

Also FWIW, note that SEMO appears to be primarily a running team. Just as our second opponent will doubtless be…losing wideouts by the minute.

Losing wide outs? Us or them?

-----------

as for Dekkers losing weight, its kind of a mixed bag. Obviously can help improve his stamina and quickness etc ... but he has admitted he needs to get a little bigger to be able to take the pounding that generally awaits a quarterback

Iowa has lost their 2 starting WR's and have walkons starting this week

That second opponent already lost two or three wideouts in the off-season, and I noticed today that one of their starters is out for a couple of games.

Not that their QB was going to make good use of any wide receivers, but still…

Disappointed that Will McD is still only 236. Good to see Joey Peterson is gaining weight though.

I worry about LB depth and DE depth.

I am going by the Channel 13 news at 6 report. They said 2 starting WR's are out.
After checking, I got that Ragaini is out a couple of games. Diante Vines is out half the season, and Keagan Johnson and Brody Brecht have been “struggling with injuries”.

Last I saw, Arland Bruce is supposed to be healthy.

I count at least six guys who will see time at defensive end. Singleton and Onyedim will fill an Enyi type role there.

Depth at linebacker is really inexperienced, though. But then…so was Mike Rose once.

I think we tend to do pretty well at LB. 10 years ago one if not two of these freshman probably would be starting. We’ve gotten pretty good about recruiting and developing. I think the guys who transferred out saw the writing on the wall with who they brought in.

We’ve had a lot of good four year starting LB’s, and are now in a position where it’s going to be harder to start as a freshman which is a good thing. And an even better thing when we do get freshman who force their way into the lineup.
