I was in attendance for both the Okie St. win in 2011 and this past weekends win at OU.

Let me tell you, there hasn't been a more satisfying feeling than cheering for every ISU 2nd half score while Gaylord Memorial Stadium went dead silent.

Their fans were absolutely stunned and just couldn't comprehend what was going on.

It. Was. Awesome.

Beating OU in their place was sweeter. And we don't have to refer to 1990 anymore.

I'd say we had some luck. Numerous replays showed the typical wide open receivers we love to allow with our soft coverage. Baker just completely missed seeing them

I'm not an expert so I can't confirm, but multiple people have stated that our rush scheme was designed to block part of Baker's field of vision and make it harder to see his open receivers.

That's not luck, that's playing to an opponent's weakness. He's short and play's better scrambling or out of the pocket with better passing lanes/vision. Knowing that, the Dline stayed in their lanes even if it meant less pressure.

Yep, the "shell" defense was an open invitation for them to run the ball.

Andy Fales put it best. That was the biggest elephant in the forest for coach campbell. A win against a top 5 OU team on the road. It doesn't get any bigger than that for an ISU football coach, and he did it in year two... and it wasn't a fluke.
