White Helmets!!

To be clear, I don't think they can do this for this year (I don't think so anyway), but here is what this set might look like with a little white accent. Next year I think they will go for a re-design, but I'm not sure.

I'd be curious how a white center stripe on the shoulders (to match the stripe pattern on the modified cardinal pants) would look.

The white red white, with white numbering is fantastic. If they wore those I'd be completely satisfied.

My thoughts.....

1. New white helmets are perfect, nothing I can think of that I would change about them.

2. I wish we would have also added a yellow (gold) helmet as well, but maybe that will come next year hopefully.

3. The new gold (not yellow) in the white helmet needs to be incorporated into everything at ISU, and ditch the yellow.

4. Ditch the gray facemask as well and go with all the chrome facemasks like on the white helmet. Probably could just use the red chrome facemask on all 3 helmets (red, gold, and white), although a gold chrome facemask might look good on the red helmet?

5. Ditch the matte helmets for good. Do not like at all.

6. I do like the stenciled logo on the helmet, but then would you lose the "gold" look and have to have it be yellow?

7. We MUST have the triple stripe down the middle of all our helmets PLEASE! Not only does it distinguish ourselves more from USC, but it looks sweet with the shoulder stripes on the jerseys... matches them perfectly.

8. Definitely get rid of the beveled multi colored look on the logo. Having multiple shades of red and gold on the logo means something is not going to match the color of the helmet, which makes it look horrible.

9. Keep the tapered stripe down the middle of the helmet. That looks pretty cool and is somewhat different.

10. Finally, do NOT wear the white helmets with anything but the all white uniforms. It looks terrible with anything else.

So, this is a GREAT initial step by Campbell, I just hope he expands on it a bit. Add a gold helmet for sure, and keep it the new gold that is on the logo on the white helmet, not yellow if possible. And keep the triple stripe down the middle of the helmet and use it on all helmets.

Does anyone think we'll see a red chrome facemask this year with the red helmet, and maybe stripes down the middle of the red helmet this year as well? I don't know why we couldn't do that this year? Ditch the gray facemasks forever, as well as the matte helmets too.

I agree with a majority of this, most strongly on 1, 2, 4, 7 and 10. #3 is worth considering, and #8 seems like a practical move (I wonder if we can keep the beveling for the main branding logo, but not on the helmet version, without having the 2 versions look too dissimilar?)

I can't seem to find it, but there used to be a document in the trademark page of the university website that showed official school colors, logos, etc. It had a full beveled/shaded I State logo along with 2 color and monochromatic renditions. So yes, we do already have simplified versions of the I State logo available.

So we can use a 2 color logo, but I noticed we cannot make the "I" yellow instead of the red like some want to do on the red helmet.

I like it, but not on a matte helmet. The matte helmet looks just awful in red IMO.

While I'd prefer this, I still think we will be wearing the ketchup and mustard look most of the time. I think the away games we will wear white helmets 80% and home games we might wear it once.

and I'd hope we would shake it up and wear them every game like these but I highly doubt it.

I think the "stencil" looks good on the matte helmet, but I'd like to see how the new "metallic" logo looks on our standard cardinal helmet (I'd also like to see the chromed red facemask and tapered stripe on that helmet as well)

I'm hoping the next media release will be the Cardinal/Red helmet w/ new tapered stripe. I trust this new staff and will happy with whatever they come up/go with, under the current limitations this year. Next year we will have a better idea of what they really want.

Thanks for this link! I'd not seen this one before; it has a lot of different variations of the I-State mark logo (including the Yellow "I" of 'I-State', very interesting. But I'm not sure it is currently 'official', since it is from 2007.

I think this changes the whole dynamic, in a not so good way. I like the first one better, white numbers only, more subtle. Just my opinion though.

And I actually like this better for Away, White lid, Red lid 'alternate' , or all-White for Away...

i think Bevel looks stupid. I wish we could keep it to one shade like these helmets.

It it gives a way more classic look and it's pleasant to the eye. I just don't think the logo looks good on a helmet unless it's one shade.

One step at a time...
I think we will get the alternate Yellow lid at some point. The "alternate" Gold lid, once in awhile, would be awesome! Or Chrome lid/stencil logo, that too.

But as I said, one step at a time. There is a lot of potential change, variations coming. We'll just have to see.
