We probably got in on French too late, but he's damn impressive.

We won't get French. Imposing physically and athletically gifted, he can play a lot of different positions, but he isn't even close to being the best player on his team. He's all about upside. He plays safety at 6'5" because he is fast, but he doesn't get tackles, isn't aggressive (BIG problem), and just doesn't stand out on a team that isn't overly talented. We are recruiting him to play TE, but he has stone hands at this point. He is a better basketball player than football player, but he isn't that outstanding of a basketball player either.

Like I said, his measurable attributes are the ones that are getting him the offers, not his play on the field IMO. However, when it's all said and done, from the offers he's getting, he will probably be the state's No. 1 prospect. A lot of Kennedy fans that are also Hawk fans (who have a very good chance at snagging him and don't have reason to be down on him), don't think he is a player. Perhaps that will change his senior year.

I honestly think he's a guy that you worry about getting before you worry about where he will play.

I've played against Darboh. He is pretty good. To bad Dowling can recruit like a college. I am from Ankeny so yeah I dislike him.

Too bad?

Students also have to pay to go to Dowling, like a college - so Dowling has to recruit.

If you've seen The Blind Side, you'd know that there is a lot more going on than recruiting when a student (who happens to be very gifted athletically) lives with a different family and goes to the same school as that family's children. Not to mention, he's been going to private school since grade school.

Lastly - you dislike him because you go to a different school? That is pretty ridiculous. Do you even know him? Do you dislike Sandvig because he went to Valley? or Jesse Smith because he went to Southeast Polk? or Arnaud because he went to Ames?

Austin Blythe(Second best recruit, maybe best in state) OL Wlliamsburg
Darian Cotton DB/RB/WR Mount Pleasant

that ISU could go after.

Here are some I can think of:

2011
Travis Perry WR/FS Urbandale
Ben Boesen TE/OLB Dowling
Isaac Lintz WR Valley
Jontel Clayton RB Fort Dodge
Austin Ebertowski RB Council Bluffs Lincoln
Jamison Lalk TE Council Bluffs Lincoln
Jer Garman RB Linn-Mar
Christian French Utility CR Kennedy
Brock Dagel OT Cherokee

Disclaimer: This doesn't mean they are I-A or BCS material as some may go I-AA

Who cares? Why does everyone concentrate on in state talent? We rarely see success from in state players i mean yes todd blythe, meyer, and jesse smith were all good but we dont see the success that iowa has with its in state recruits i for one would much rather spend my time in the talent spots like florida, texas, alabama, and california

You're ridiculous. You build off the instate guys and supplement with very talented other guys. Look at how the Iowa Hawkeyes have been succcessful for years. By doing exactly this.

How can you say we don't have success with these in state guys? Blythe, Meyer, Arnaud, Jesse Smith, Aaron Brant, Nik Moser, Nick Leaders, Jordan Carstens, Lane Danielson, JJ Moses, Ben Lamaak, Sage Rosenfels, Jack Whitver, Shawn Morehead, and others disagree....

I'll bet if you asked a real hawkeye fan, they'll say they've had success because they've recruited Iowa SO WELL...

Yes but the talent pool in the state of iowa is changing, ESPN just had an article on how the talent pool is shifting in the US. Trust me I love the players you have listed, they did some great things for us. But how often do those players come around? I mean take a look at the zandvigs highly recruited out of Iowa and what have they done for us? besides fumble about 18 punt returns a few years back.

and since when do we want to be like iowa?

Yes he did..

Actually, no he didn't. Look at weR138's post...the bolded parts. The OP was asking about good in-state players that ISU has a chance at. Unless you really believe that Blythe is waivering?

At least learn how to read if you are going to come on here and spew your hok crap.

I DO NOT want to be like Iowa.....

but I will take players like Tim Dwight, Tavian Banks, Jared DeVries, LeVar Woods, Mike Klinkenborg, Calvin Davis, Mitch King, Andy Becker, Brandon Wegher, Keenan Davis, Jordan Bernstine, Tyler Sash, Andy Brodell, Colin Sandeman, Julian Vandervelde, Pat Angerer on any Iowa State Team....

Why? they play in the big ten...a slower more defense based conference. Sash is good but could he play with big 12 or SEC speed?

Brandon Wegher was good because he had a good offensive line. I would take some of those guys yes but you have to take in affect they play different style of ball in the big ten.

I would take their linemen recruits.
