I think some of the top programs are going to drop off a bit this year and that next tier of teams will be stronger. You have top tier teams like Alabama and Ohio State replacing a lot of talent at key positions while other teams are bringing back 20 starters.

Alabama was all-timer level good last year. Are they really going to be as good this year? I don’t see it. They’re losing at least one game, maybe two.

tOSU lost at some key positions (notably QB), but to counteract that they now have 2 of the top 3 WRs in CFB, and more than likely the best O-Line in CFB. These teams don’t drop off overall, they just change their areas of strength year to year.

I really like Dan Mullen though. Plus the $EC east is garbage after Florida and Georgia. Could go 10-2 without a significant challenge in those 10 wins. They get Bama in Week 3, at home which could be close as Bryce Young is new
You could say there's a...Florida Georgia line...

Kirby Smart needs to make the playoffs this year. This might be his best team yet. He'll be on the hot seat if they dont.

It's almost embarrassing that no one has said the obvious answer: TAMU.

They benefitted from the prototypical SEC ranking bias, beating a "highly ranked" Florida team that was a fraud, thereby "justifying" their own lofty ranking. They were piss pounded by Alabama (happens to even good teams though), squeaked by some mediocre teams. They then rode a huge 4th quarter to their bowl win over NC, one with which they rode a huge team rushing performance.

From that team they lost FOUR starting offensive lineman and their QB of 4 years. They didn't do nearly enough to justify a top 5 ranking with losing an entire offensive line and your starting QB. Twelve to fifteen seems more accurate to me.

UNC had a ton of opt outs for the bowl game too. Probably not far off of UF for bowl opt out impact.

Oregon. I can't turn on sports talk radio without hearing how great they are going to be this year. Talking heads seem to forget that they got blown out in their most recent game by some overrated team from the B12.
As soon as I read the OP this is the team that leapt into mind.

They play at tOSU next week, seems like they are getting shoved down our throats to hype that game. Two months ago no one was talking about them, now they are everywhere.

Testifying
I think they all finish lower than current ranking:
Clemson 3-2, just escaped BC
Ohio State 4-1, starting to look better
Notre Dame 4-1, Cincy was better all day
Florida 3-2, historic loss @ UK
Indiana 2-3, bad

My CFP darkhorse is Utah 2-2 mediocre
Bump.

Clemson just isn't good this year.
