This is like my friend who said "good" in my group text message when Teddy went down. There is a time and a place for the rivalry, right after a kid gets a serious injury, is not that place. I would like to think that you wouldn't want a poster saying "SKOL VIKINGS, SKOL VIKINGS, SKOL VIKINGS" in a thread about Aaron Rodgers getting a season ending injury and what to do next

Yup I had a couple Packers fans that are friends tell me that they hated hearing the news and that it sucks. This could be career ending. To be gleeful and cheer for that is just straight up dumb.

This is comical.

You trust Shaun Hill to lead game winning drives? To get out of trouble with his feet?

Hill is touted as a game manager, but I see a big difference in his ability to read a defense and Bridgewater's. The way Teddy was throwing guys open and hitting deep balls this preseason showed a major source of improvement in his game.

Do I trust Shaun Hill to lead game winning drives? No. Did you trust Teddy to do that? Not at this point in his career. He had one last year against the Bears.

Do I trust Hill to get out of trouble with his feet? No.

Hill is a game manager, just like Teddy. Which is why I think the Vikings will be fine. The Vikings were not winning because of Teddy Bridgewater. I'm not sure where this narrative came from but it's been odd to see it play out this past 24 hours.

I feel bad for Teddy, I wish we could have seen him improve this year, but I'm not putting stock into preseason for how it would play out for him. Sam Bradford was a machine last year in the preseason.

I never said Hill is going to be as good as Teddy. I just think he's the best option to start the season. He can do a lot of what Teddy did. Check down, use the PA pass when there, and let the defense/running game win the games. To think this team can't go to the playoffs with Shaun Hill is incorrect IMO.

I'm close to convincing myself that Kaepernick might not be a bad choice. With a dumbed-down playbook, his mobility and arm strength could work. And with all of the recent publicity, the asking price for him may be a little favorable.

If the Vikings sign him, it should only be with the understanding that he will stand with the rest of his team and respect our flag and country, But yes, football wise, he's the best option if he gets cut

He's without question the most talented out of the guys named, but also the biggest question mark.

I'll try to leave that discussion to the other thread, but I sorta liken this to the days when I used to watch Jim McMahon in purple. I'd hope he did well for the team's sake, but I really didn't wince if he got blindsided by an unblocked linebacker.

Any Vikings fan who thinks a 36 year-old washed up Shaun Hill is leading them to the playoffs is simply delusional. Do Viking's fans really think Hill can produce efficiently through a 16 game season and then into the playoffs on top of that? Yikes.o_O

A couple thoughts in response to previous posts...

1. McCarron might have the highest price on the list, but no way will he require a 1st round pick. He was a 5th round pick and and we have extra picks that should be enough to land him.
2. Kaepernick would be the biggest risk of all IMO; I don't want that media backlash.
3. I think Adam is right that Teddy has been over-hyped suddenly, but he's also, without a doubt, better than any option on our list.
4. Having said that, Hill is absolutely a viable option with AP in good health.

There's no perfect choice based on current and future unknowns, but I'm very interested to see how Zimmer will respond. Maybe the biggest decision of his career to date.

I think many would agree. If not for his situation currently going on, he would be the top choice for sure, IMO.

I think you guys missed Kap last season. He threw more ducks and balls into the feet of his WR's than McNabb did when he was with the Vikes. He is arm is gone...I blame the %100 vegan diet (semi-serious). There is a reason a QB two years removed from a Super-Bowl is going to have troubles making a roster. It wouldn't make any sense to bring him to MN. His head is elsewhere and throwing a new offense at him would be a disaster.

He is at the bottom of the list for most GM's in the league currently. For more reasons than one.

As far as being suddenly over-hyped, I think it's due to the fact that Teddy Bridgewater is the first Vikings quarterback in a long a** time who had seemed to have real potential and truly felt like a permanent solution, rather than another washed up veteran who has 1-2 years left.

I voted McCarron. I just don't know if it'll happen. I agree that Hill needs to start the season, but his skill set is nowhere near Teddy's. I know Teddy's not a top 5 QB, but that's not the point.

The last two times the Vikings have made the playoffs has been with Christian Ponder and Teddy throwing for 200 yards per game.

I don't think Shaun Hill can take them to the Super Bowl (I wasn't one that thought Teddy could either, although their chances were definitely better with him there), but I do think he can lead them to the playoffs. They have 4 games against the Bears/Lions after all.

Teddy was pretty well past the game manager point by the end of last year, and lead a clutch playoff drive only to have Walsh choke (which any kicker wearing purple would have done). That's a game-winning drive to me, in as much as the QB did everything necessary to get the win.

He was clearly moving past that based on this year's pre-season results. Shaun Hill at best is Teddy Bridgewater through the first 2/3rds of last year. That's Hill's ceiling, period. Not November Teddy. Not what we were seeing in the preseason. I think they can get to 9-7 with him, maybe 10-6 if he plays at his peak. But this was a team capable of much, much more.
